T TOP GASKETS??

Hey guys does anyone know if or where you can get The outer T Top gaskets that hang over the door windows. They are more like a strip. They always seems to come apart and bend at the ends.
Thanks

OUTER T TOP SEALS are what you are looking for. There is always a set for sale on ebay. Also http://www.1aauto.com/1A/Weatherstri...SC00083/419753

I'm sure one of the sponsers carry them but, I beleive you can still get them from GM.

Re: T TOP GASKETS??

Hi,

just so you know, that is incorrect.

I, like the original poster, am looking for the rubber sashes that hang off the outside of the t-top and cover the glass (rubber attaches from outermost part of t-top and remains outside exposed to the elements- hence why it tears).

I went ahead and ordered the linked part above, and after confirming part #'s, names, and actually holding the shipped part in my hand... I have determined that this seal is for the glass connecting to the t-top.

this incorrect part is also known as the t-top side rail hatch seal.

I ordered it, and now have to ship it back. I am looking for this rubber sash and will report back if i find it.

I think they are meant to help keep water from dripping on where the window meets the weatherstripping on the top.

I'm not sure tho, but mine is doing the same thing. Are they even replaceable?

The original ones are a firm rubber, the new replacement ones from GM are plastic. You can take the trim off the top and replace it but it’s a pain, at least mine where.

Those are what you want. I got that from this thread:
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/body...im-needed.html

I bookmarked it so I wouldn't lose it when I want to order them

It looks like they're 50 bucks, but probably well worth it to get rid of old faded ones.

Re: T TOP GASKETS??

Ahh Sorry about that I missed "hang over the door windows" part. I shaved those at the front on my car just a tad to keep them from hitting the window as it was pulling down like the one in the picture, I still need to replace them, but my orginal seals still do not leak except in high pressure car washes. Although when I repaint it probably next summer I will be replacing all the seals as I plan on taking the car partially apart for the paint job. This summer is drive train as I am at 210k miles.

Re: T TOP GASKETS??

The prices of weatherstripping is just beyond rediculous. They act as if the rubber used to make them is almost extinct.

Re: T TOP GASKETS??

Hey, my 86 TA leaks like crazy through the t tops. Do you know which gaskets are the ones that notoriously go bad and leak?

Re: T TOP GASKETS??

Sorry to hijack - only because I haven't found a post on this, but my window is actually the one leaking not the T-Top....as ATCharming said, my window catches on the T-Top gasket as I shut the door, now my window doesn't seal like it should and it leaks like a champ due to the window not going all the way up to seal properly. How do you fix that??? Don't want to waste money on something like the T-Top seals when they are still good!

Re: T TOP GASKETS??

Looks like GM Parts direct no longer carries the part number ending in 53, just the one ending in 52. Dang.
