Stock Iroc-Z Tire size...

Hey guys, I have been looking for the specs for a stock iroc tire?As of now my iroc has P225/60/R16 on the front the tires rub when they are turned as far as they can. Right now it has the 91-92 camaro ground effects on the sides and they are worn from the tires rubbing... I am just wondering what tire size would be correct so that they would stop rubbing so once i replace the wrong ground effects they wont wear them down. Thanks all. -Matt

Re: Stock Iroc-Z Tire size...

if you have the factory rims 16x8, the stock tire size is 245/50/16. The IROC-Z 16x8 and the Z-28 16x8 have different offset for the front and rear. You can see it on the rims. It say FRONT or REAR. I am not sure if you are aware of that. If you have an aftermarket rim with too much positive offset then you might need to replace them. On the stock 16x8, i run 245/50/16 in the front and 255/50/16 in the back. Just a personal preference.

Re: Stock Iroc-Z Tire size...

245/50R-16 was the standard size for IROC's for most years.Although 235/55R-16 was standard on convertibles in later years(I'm using this size on my '83 Z28 with no problems). Is the tire decal still on the driver's door of your car(if it is still readable)? Also the SPID decal on the underside of the console door(make sure the VIN matches your car VIN)will give the option code for the tires that were original equipment on your car. Also 26" is roughly the height of the original tires.

Re: Stock Iroc-Z Tire size...

P245ZR50-16 Goodyear gatorbacks is exactly what mine came with from Michigan when I picked it up from where it was made. They are bi-directional which means right side tires stayed on the right side, Left Side Tires stayed only on the left. Rims are marked front and rear and can only be swapped from left to right or vise versa. I had good year do a tire rotation on my car after I 1st bought it and they didn't realize that you couldn't do a standard rotation.. Needless to say the price went way up...

Re: Stock Iroc-Z Tire size...

My iroc had 245/50/16 and i just got them replaced yesterday with the same size tire and they look alot smaller. They said they had like 2 different kinds and there was a S-series and a W-series. Is there a difference?

What they meant was two differnet speed ratings and not size. "S" is a low speed rated & "W" the highest. No difference in height/width....

What brand are they? Some brands run small & will not measure what they "are". Like a 245 only measuring 205mm!

hey bro you really shouldnt have a rubbing problem with a tire that small upfront. if i was you check if the inner fender well plastics is sagging and causing the rub.

The ones i had before were BFGoodrich tires and the ones now are Falken
But what i did find that the ones i had before were P245/50R16. P meaning P-metric and the ones i have now are euro-metric.
