you think thats bad? let me give you this link to a video on youtube, and this guy in a 79 z28 i think escapes the cops, then the cops spot him, and instead of safely boxing him in and arresting him (this is a stolen car now, its somebodys obviously modded baby and some bozo is behind the wheel), the first thing they do is ram the rear end of the car, causing hundreds, if not a few grand, in repair and repaint http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWRZjDawPEw

Got mine (the one in sig) back in '99 for $4300 from the original female owner, when I was 15, the summer before I went to high school. Daily drove it for one year in the fall/spring and caught rides with friends during the winter until I was 17, when I got a second vehicle which became my daily.

Me and a couple other guys with 5.0 Stangs would always park at the end of the lot at school. One day I got a message in class to go to the principal's office, thinking WTF did I do I get there to find that some ***** had tried to break into my car with a screwdriver. I went outside with the principal and vice principal to see three or four cops standing around my car, somehow the perps managed to do literally zero damage with their screwdriver; I guess the cop happened to be driving by right as the kids were trying to break into my car so he pulled into the lot as fast as possible, the kids ran, but he got one of them and put their face in the concrete and he had to go to the hospital (LOL). He ended up having to write me a letter saying sorry as part of his probation, hahaha.

I was very lucky nothing was damaged, not even the lock. The police wanted me to check over everything and I remember being nervous because they were all standing in front of the car at the time I came out, obviously looking at my missing front plate. Then they told me to start it up, and with no exhaust I wanted so bad for it to start quietly but it of course didn't, but the cops didn't say anything. Then they wanted me to test the hatch and the glove box in the hatch to make sure the kids didn't get to them and ruin the locks on either, yeah I was a kid and opened up the rear hatch to see a nice porno video (VHS lol) my friend who had turned 18 had bought for me...I said to the cop, "You didn't see that right?" and he just nodded his head with a little smirk.

The cops were pretty cool, and I was pretty lucky.

 

The cops probably didnt want to give you a hard time considering how stressful it would be just to hear that someone broke into your car. I know if I heard that I would flip s**t. In fact tonight one of my friends decided it would be funny to sit (with the car off) in the drivers side of my camaro. I literally ran to the door, opened it (carefully), and through him out on to the ground.

I bought my 91 when I was 15 and then my 84 exactly a year later and now I just bought a 85 Iroc last week and I'm still 16 and a junior.

I'm in 12th grade right now with a 1991 Z28 Convertible. Got it when i was 16 but i already knew i was getting the car cause my dad put it into storage before he got his new car My dad had it for about 11 years. ~260hp and 300lb/tq in a 305 V8.

 

Just got a new 1989 Firebird Formula ws6 : 350 5.7L v8 comes with a special Rear Posi, dont remember the ratio, a 140 mph Speedometer and a couple of other cool perks. Theres pictures in my garage, ill probably up date this post later with them.

Anyone else that has this i was wandering what type of cool mods you have done to the interior and possible transmission swap, considering i will need one here soon, car jumps alot when shifting gears.

 

well im 15 right now got my first third gen at age 6 from my brother after he wrecked it its an 87 350 tpi with 54 000 miles which my dad and i are restoring at the moment and just got it running after 15 years!now i have 4 third gens another 87 z a 86 z28 and a 91 rs being used for parts for my 87 z then i have a 71 and a 74 nova with a 383 and a 355 that i got 5 and 6 grade year then i have a 71 camaro with a built 350 and factory a/c and then i have 3 chevy 1500s an 88 an 89 an 96 that are all stepsides and i have a 67 jeep j200 pick up with a factory jeep 327 in it with a factory a/c cab that will eventualy get lifted with dana 60s under it needles to say i gotta lotta projects on my hands!

i am a senior in high school and im the only person with a third gen

bought it in march and with the stock 3.1 v6 threw that out put a built 350 in. bought to put an exhaust cut out on it. buts its the fastest in the school.

I bought my '86 for $500, sunk $1200 to get it road ready, then another $3500 for paint. All paid for by working my hands to the bone. this winter she's getting a 300hp 327 out of a '66 chevelle. Let's just say it won't be making 300hp anymore...

 

Im in my senior year of high school now and love my thirdgen. Got it in June. Lets see how it does in winter!

Long time reader, 1st time poster.


I had an '87 GTA 5.7 that I bought new back in High School. And I had the ****** to prove it. lol

 

Earlier this week I was fortunate enough to find another GTA identical in every way to the one I had in 1987. Oddly enough, when I sold mine it had a little over 20k miles on it. And the one I just bought is a one-owner survivor car with 28k actual miles. My original intention was to buy it, repaint it, and sell it. But I've been driving it all week and I'm not sure I can part with it!

Should I grow the ****** back??

WOW!! I knew "mull-it's" went hand in hand with 3rd Gen's, but I didn't know it was considered a bad word!! LMAO!!

 

I bought this 3rd Gen the next year. An '88 IROC 5.7 (IROCET). Only because i couldn't get T-Tops and the 5.7 in '87. And I needed to let the wind blow through my hair.....

 

I can now say that I did or DO have a third gen in high school. I'm a senior and I just bought a 1992 Camaro RS heritage edition. I won't be driving it for a while though while I get it fixed up and running good.

 

I got my car back in 1999, old and busted says a lot about what this car looked like.



I did some work on her, she was a warn out 2.8 V6 with a T-5.


The saddest day of my life was when I had to sell her to my best friend, not knowing if she'd ever be back. I never wanted to get rid of her but I had no choice.


My buddy spent almost a year and a half fixing her up so he could drive it.


Then came my new Project car. Which ended up being a total waste of time.


Then the day came then my old car got painted



Then the idea happend, seeming that my father piced up a collector car and in turn I lost my garage space and I couldnt work on the new project. A purposal was made. Swap my project for my old car... My buddy agreed because need needed a new project cause he finshed my old car and the deal was sealed!!!

What a great feeling to get my baby back. Brand new paint, a tired 305 and a new leash on life.

You do know that they had the 5.7 L and t-tops available in 87 right? My 87 IROC has both!

 

Yea, but I didn't think T-Tops were available on the GTA's w/5.7's in 1987. Or were they?

 

Graduated in 2000. Brown 84 trans am with the l69 ho 305 and a 5 speed. I still have the car, since then have put in a 350 and 700r tranny. And been in the process of doing the knight rider conversion, which is close to being done. My dad bought me the car in 97. Had it for a long time.

 

got my trans am when i was 17 and a jr in high school. bought it wrecked n fixed it up for my sr year. n i can say my car was the one that got the most attention in the parking lot lol now im in college n my baby sitting bak home cuz i dont trust it up here lol

 

Just started my Sophmore year. For my birthday i got my dream car i worked really hard for, an 88 Black Trans am<3 Ive had her since June and me and my Dad have been fixin her up til i can drive in January (The new laws SUCK) But yeah it still needs a lot of work! New fuel injected carb,Y pipe bolts, clean the valves, tail pipes, clean the injectors, fog lights,and body work. But I love my car! Not even driving it yet but i still get a ton of attention,i love it! Everyone at my school has an Import or a hick truck so when i pull up im gonna be the only cool one there in my trans am ;D

 

forgot to mention we already redid almost the entire car from bumper to bumper! 900 bucks later

 

I got mine back in 2003 when I was a senior in high school.
That was my first car and I still have it.

 

I was lucky enough to get mine new at the beginning of my sophomore year. I still have it and I'm attempting a full restore. just got the engine back from the machine shop last week..getting it put back together. Next I'm pulling the m5 to go through it. Hopefully by next summer she'll run again!

Most kids at my school wouldnt even know how to change a tire. Mommy and daddy buying them used mercedes and beamers, or *tuning up* ricers with primer body kits and fartcans. I cant wait till the day im done my car and pull into the parking lot

 

Sure did, was never in running condition while I was in school though. Spent the summer before I started college getting it into a more operational condition (and more cosmetically pleasing) via an engine install and paint job. Drove it for a summer while in college, which was really pleasing because only a few other guys had nice cars the rest of the students drove there same busted high school cars. One guy had the nerve to ask if I was driving "daddy's car", to which I replied "No, but sometimes I let him borrow it".

 

I had my 3rd gen in middle school!! 13th birthday present, it just didnt run,lol

 

I had a second gen in highschool. That was 22-23 years ago.

 

My first car was an'86 firebird then I got an '88 iroc in my senior year. Still have both of them, over ten yrs now and just picked up another '88 iroc

 

Just got my first thirdgen yesterday! 1992 RS 305 TBI w/ a 5 speed! I will post pics soon. I am a senior right now. I drove a 2005 mercury mountaineer for a while and am now working on the RS as well.

 

NO! There were no 3rd gens when I was in high school. Or second gens. First gens were pretty new but I didn't have one of those either. This thread is kind of depressing in that way. But I have a '91 v6 now so everything is boss, rad and bitchin'!!!!!!

 

I Got y 85 ws6 trans am my freshman year in high school, a buddy of mine somehow warped the cam in it and gave it to me, I ended up selling it and have recently tracked it back down and am buyin it back to restore.

Bought it about this time last year (the day after christmas) when I was a junior. Started off driving my parents 1989 1500 chevy truck with a 350 in it for the first half of my junior year. Always have liked third gens a lot and my uncle had a 1982 Z28 Camaro at his house that hadn't been running for years. He told me he would give it to me for free if I wanted it so we went out and looked at it. Well turns out the block was cracked, interior was non-existent, and the body had holes all over it. Needless to say we left it and he sold it for $200 a few months later to some guy.

Then I found my car up in Washington. Went up there with my dad and we checked it out. Paid for all of it myself with my own money I got from doing yard work and fixing computers. Parents have helped me get it to daily driver condition, and I still drive their truck sometimes when my car is out for a few days.
