Re: Did u have a Thirdgen in highschool?

I didn't have one in H.S. however, in 1985, I saw my first Iroc when a classmate's father (who owned a local dealership) bought him one. One look at that car and I vowed that I would own one. Of course, time and life went by - 22 years specifically - before I bought one. And naturally, as many of you can attest to, I opened up a can of worms by constantly starting projects on it etc and never really driving the thing (only 1,000 miles in the 2.5 years I've had it). All that should finally end in a few months. This year, no more driveway projects; driving only!

Seeing as how mine is the 82' Camaro indy 500 pace car. I think she'll like riding in a bowtie that used to have big flashing lights mounted on the roof.

FYI, it's A pace car, not THE pace car that had the flashing lights.

Re: Did u have a Thirdgen in highschool?

When I was 15 I got ahold of a 81 z28,wasn't nice at all by any means but i could wait to get my liscense. But after my dad caught me cuttin donuts in a walmart parking lot in my buddys 93 formula he sold the Z and made me drive a beater farm truck, would've had to ride the bus but I played so many sports... I worked summers from then on and the day after I graduated I got my 92 RS. I must say high school would've been way more fun in that thing even if it isn't the nicest on the block its my baby and her seats lay flat haha been busting it ever since to try and make her fast.

Nothing! Your statement just sounded like you thought it was an original or something. He was just letting you know.

When I checked the vin the first time I thought it was one of the three real pace cars. Then I noticed a a number and on of the letters in the vin were different. But it's still a attention getter when you say it's a pace car.

Re: Did u have a Thirdgen in highschool?

yess i did, got it in the August before my senior year. even in its beaten condition i still got looks, (especially when i removed the muffler).

but as time went on i was driving the Lumina more than the Camaro. things kept breaking every couple months and each paycheck was going to whatever.

I'm selling it now, looking to get an S10 for a daily driver. down the road i'm looking for another one, with a special swap in mind

Re: Did u have a Thirdgen in highschool?

No i had a 68 plymouth road runner and a 73 dodge charger 440. I graduated in 1989, BIG HAIR bands ruled. The parking lot was full of muscle cars and new Iroc Zs, Z 28s, Mustang GTs and Dodge Shelby Zs. I always loved the 80's Camaros and finally got one a few years ago, a 1986 Z28 that a girl owned new at our school. I can remember sitting in Algebra class in the 9th grade and a brand new blue 1986 IROC Z was cruising in front of the school. The only thing we could see was the very top of the drivers head he was laid back. Thank You

um hate to burst your bubble but you gotta realize your "v6" is nothing special unless its rebuilt and maybe boosted. which i doubt. kids like you make me look stupid, cause a 16 year old kid thinks his v6 from the 80-90s car is fast. get real kid

Re: Did u have a Thirdgen in highschool?

I had one in high school, some of it anyway. When I was 15 I wanted a muscle car to work on. We had a 03 v6 Silverado single cab and a 92 s10 blazer. We found an 86 cutlass and traded the blazer for it. The cutlass was lacking in power and couldnt find any performance parts for the 307. Ridin around one day my dad and I spotted an 85 Trans Am. We ended up buying it. It had a 79 350 in it. We rebuilt the motor and transmission and I drove it for about a year in high school. Decided to sell it to buy 22in rims for the Silverado which I finished out high school driving. I have regretted selling it since the day it left. I am not without a thirdgen though. I now have an 87 Trans Am.

Re: Did u have a Thirdgen in highschool?

I got my 350 IROC when i was 15. Dad picked me up from driver's ed and said that we had a car we HAVE to go look at (found it on eBay 20 miles away), fell in love at 1st sight, he bought it the next day when i was in school (sophomore year).

Man that car is a head turner! It first started its life being owned in Wisconsin, and ended up with me, forever! Wrecked 3 times before i owned. Ive never wrecked my pride n joy (got close a couple of times spinning the rear around)!

Re: Did u have a Thirdgen in highschool?

Im in highschool at the moment. Going to be a Junior in August. Im the only one there that has a muscle car. The only other thing moderately close is a grand am with a turbo Lol. The school has 50 Kids in my grade. about 190 in the whole high school. Theyre all very cliquish and jealous. Everyone at the school already talks nonstop about my Trans Am and i havent even driven it to school yet! Im betting the car will be keyed after about a month:P Trust me,thats how these kids are.

Re: Did u have a Thirdgen in highschool?

I had a thirdgen in high school. My 1st car was an 85 camaro. It was nothing special but I loved it. The guy I dated during high school and into my 20s was a thirdgen lover also so he had a really nice thirdgen that we took to prom. I even bought a prom dress the same color as the car. We were pretty thirdgen crazy back then which was one the reasons why we were good for each other at the time. I can't speak for him now since we are no longer together but I still love the thirdgens! I was without one for a few years but recently picked up another one. Driving in that car brings back some good memories. Now I'm slowly getting my husband to appreciate them :-)

Re: Did u have a Thirdgen in highschool?

Man, I wish. I didn't even get my driver's permit until a year after I graduated. (this year), and working on getting my license asap. Just got my thirdgen two days ago, and maaan, if I had her back in highschool, well, that would have been a blast. Probably wouldn't have been the fastest seeing as how she's only got a 2.8L V6 in her, and that HS was full of spoiled kids with rich parents, BMW's, a couple of Lotus's... etc.

Re: Did u have a Thirdgen in highschool?

I have my 86 2.8 and I'm going to be a senior this year, and it's been in the family since it was new. I drive a 4.0 sohc 4x4 ranger every day, but i'm about to start to driving the Camaro again because that ranger uses a crap ton of gas. I would love that lol, but the camaro doesn't always run that great, and it need a new sending unit, gas tank, and muffler. I managed to borrow my aunt's Eddie Bauer explorer for prom lol so I had a pretty good car for that. Hopefully I can get it to run well enough and quiet enough that I can take it my girlfriend out in it (every time i mention it she asks for a ride). I'm not going to take her out in a vehicle that isn't 100% reliable.

Re: Did u have a Thirdgen in highschool?

Didn't manage to snag mine until my freshman year of college. Technically I shared a 92 V6 Firebird in high school but it wasn't really mine. Now I proudly drive an 89 GTA. Words cannot explain my love for thirdgens. This car cannot be taken to the gas station without starting a convo with someone there about it. I love it!

Didn't have a third gen in high school or any other car for that matter. Have to be 17 to drive here by which time you've already left high school.

Re: Did u have a Thirdgen in highschool?

I'm still driving my first car. 1985 Pontiac trans am. Drove it to school all the time, thats where most of the drift, and dual burnouts came from. I went through alot of tires on the days ppl pulled the fire alarms (would run to our cars and take off before security stopped us from leaving). That was way back when, since I'm now reaching ripe old middle age (27) lol
