What kind of shape is the car in? Im sorry but the 6's are not in any way faster then the 8's. The car you raced probably has decent compression in 5 cylinders and it was a manual with a kid that still doesn't know how to shift behind it.

Dont worry about him he thinks his 18 second car kept up with a camaro SS supercharged. A stock base model civic would take him in a race.

Re: Did u have a Thirdgen in highschool?
, i was there and it happened, dont get mad cuz your v8 is wet and slow and my 6 is nimble and quick, any idiot can pound the pedal in a v8 car and spin his tires like an ***
, it actually requires a little driving skill to get good launches and speed in a v6 car with an automatic
, and wicked crazy as far as i'm concerned your probably a troll
you've been here what a few months maybe not, all i know is it happened, these cars can be raced and can win, you gotta know how to drive it though if any of you can go out and take some corners in a v6 car and then go take them again in your heavy v8s and feel the difference, i mentioned before my car has been lightened, and i prefer not to race on tracks unless theres a few turns, drag racing is so boring
now please don't say hurtful things to people you don't know because you feel like a big tough man on the internet just enjoy your damn car, go out to the street and race it , as for the huffy, your on!
and if you have a stock 305 camaro
, i'll gladly race you too if you come on down to my area and we can run the same patch of asphalt as i beat the other one on, now lets not carry on like children otherwise the thread might get

Re: Did u have a Thirdgen in highschool?
Not sure what makes my V8 wet? But I know my 355 is not slow. With a V6 auto how hard can it be to launch can it even spin the tires? Mash the gas put power to ground have tires stick because it cannot spin them and go? I also know that my lowered car with frame connectors and all poly everything probably handles better than you would expect. I have also removed weight from my car so not sure how that will help you. Finally how can you call anyone a child when you are trying to get street racing going vs a track. High school is a wonderful time enjoy it just make sure the other guy actually knows your racing. Also to answer your question I have been here sense oct 2004.

no idea about the sfcs , i was referring to Wickedcrazy, or whatever his name was as a troll, i am no longer in hs, kinda hard to not know your racing when you both agree to race line up and race, maybe its a NY thing being that dense
and i've said time and again, drag racing is boring and pointless not all roads are straight lines, and even when lightened as much as possible, your car will still be heavier than mine, got two extra heavy pointless cylinders, jk i meant no offense to you or any other v8s out there just hate being picked on for having a v6, its still a thirgen not like i'm running on rice like most other 18yr olds who are complete posers.

Dude, sorry, I'm not trying to be mean, but I have been in the 2.8 firebird, and in my car, and my car was still faster even though it has bald tires that are too small for the rims. The guy must not have been a very good driver, or had a bad engine, or both. I am not saying you dont have skill, congrats on your kill. but the 5.0 is faster.

As to the Troll accusation, ya i guess. As to your great v6 claim. YOU made it seem as tho you could take on any 305 so don't play the victim here. Secondly I may have only been registered on here for a couple months but I've also had a lot of 'birds and I can tell you that any v6 is slow as ****, sure they are fun in the corners, but what bird isn't, but they still won't beat a competent driver with even a 305. You beat someone with a 305 that didn't know how to drive, don't brag and single yourself out for ridicule.

I got mine in April of 06 when i was a junior, and drove till about November of my senior year, when it came off the road for the winter and has been a project ever since. I never got any girls because of it though, they just wanted to know why I drove an old loud car that smelled like gas haha.

I had a '83 Firebird S/E (slow edition) that my DAD and I looked at 1 day and he says to me "I'd hate to be the poor sob to buy that pos." Well I ended up with it at 14 years old (now 27) and started working on it the next day. By the time we got it running I was 15 and a junior. That car git me hooked on thirdgens. Wish I still had it but the front subframe fell off after I parked in the driveway one day.

Re: Did u have a Thirdgen in highschool?
I wish!
They were new then.
I graduated HS in 1986. With a new job my present to myself was a used 1985 red Z28 LB9 car.
I could not afford a new one, but bought my 85 in December of 1986.
There was also a black 1985 IROC sitting right next to it. I really like the red better. But I really wanted the IROC option instead of the Z28.
But the real clincher was the IROC had the LG4 engine, not the HO L69, so I got the Z28.
I had it for 5 years.
It was a 15 flat quarter mile car stock.
A chip and straight pipe brought cat delete it to 14.7 ish.

For four years a full half of my take home pay went to this car payment and insurance!
AC quit, tape player quit, passenger window quit at least it was in the up position, tranny had to be rebuilt, and then finally a blown head gasket just before I sold it.
Hard to believe how much more power a V6 car has now.
While actually in HS I had a 74 400/4bbl monte carlo- totaled, a 1975 350 2bbl Impala sedan-killed, a 69 GTO I could not afford to keep fixing, and a 4-banger 80 Monza.

Re: Did u have a Thirdgen in highschool?
I wanted a thirdgen all through high school. My girlfriends dad pickup up a March 1983 HO Z28 out of a field for 700 bucks and with a little work with a buffer, he had it looking fresh and new. I saved up to buy it from him for 2500, but he was always toying with it and it wasn't original enough for me.
After I graduated, I found one identicle to his on craigslist 300 miles away. Only difference was it was a crossfire car and was an auto. I took a bus and drove it home, never looked back.

I still own my 91 Firebird that I drove in high school all those years ago. Currently its undergoing an extensive restoration to remove 180k miles worth of hot rodding and rough treatment.

This was my baby in high school. 1969 Z28. Motor was built by Banjo Mathews in North Carolina. 13.5 pistons, crower cam, 4.56 rear end, 4 bolt main, muncie rockcrusher 4 speed, tunnel ram with 2 650 holleys... and 4 miles a gallon

Rule #1 about nice and/or fast cars: never give one to a highschooler.
Re: Did u have a Thirdgen in highschool?
Back when I was in highschool I had an 81 Malibu. Then my senior year I got a free 1991 dodge van that I traded for my first f body, a 1984 firebird s/e. After I graduated I got a black 1988 iroc(always wanted one) then got tired of it and bought a 4th gen. Fast forward a couple years and I have a 1991 Camaro, which I'm hoping will be my fastest car yet (first one to be swapped with what originally came under the hood) also it's in the worst condition of any car I've ever owned.

Re: Did u have a Thirdgen in highschool?
Bought my car in July when I was 16, turned 17 in September and got my License on Tuesday. It's my baby and I almost screwed up this afternoon actually. Me and a few friends were racing down to McDonald's at lunch and my friend stopped suddenly and I rear ended him. No damage done to either car luckily, just a couple scrapes on the bottom of my car and a crack in his paint. We all agreed to never do that again..

Re: Did u have a Thirdgen in highschool?
Thanks Skelitor
Your car was one of the first ones I saw on here, it's been in my top 5 ever since. I need to repaint my bumper now and my friend was already going to repaint his but im surprised that I can't seem to see any bad damage.. it was a pretty rough hit but i can't find anything wrong.

Yeah, I've wanted an IROC since I was 6 but when I saw the RS in pretty good condition I had to buy it. I've seen a couple other RS's and I drove right by an IROC yesterday but most kids my age look at imports like the supra, not at muscle. It definitely makes me feel special driving a car that stands out
