I got my 1st 3rd Gen my Senior year of HS, that was in 1998. It was very different from what I was drivng. 1st car was a 82 Celica GT then I got a 86 Mitsu Starion Twin Turbo(was replaced by the 3000GT) then a 92 Supra Turbo. Was really easy to sell the Supra, as I expected, and got me a 88 Firebird with a LO3. Was slower but I feel in love with it and so ended my short lived life as a Jap car driver. I still have it to in my garage next to my Iroc-Z and T/A. I have had wayyy to many Fbodies since and not stopping.

Is your car an 84' Z28? OR an 85' IROC-Z. Irocs didn't start until at least the 85' model year....

 

my bad, its an 84 z28, ill admit i dont know a whole lot about american cars yet because i used to be into european cars. sorry for the confusion.

 

i had my 90 rs in 7th grade, had it till last summer then i got my 86 sports, now i might get my buddys 88 sports, so ill have had 3 third gens, but ill own 2 xD

 

I had a piece of **** Focus that I ended up selling for 1800 because it caused more problems then anything. Took the bumper off and found the left front frame tied together with metal wire and a bent bolt. Any way saved up and ended up getting my 84 camaro the week after I graduated and im quite glad.

Cant wait to go back in spring and leave my mark in the parking lot. At my school if you had a nice car you would want to leave it at home. Rich kid with completely tricked out 350z found a pile of **** on his hood. Some kids are just to immature. Sorry for the rant

 

I hear ya there. The last day of school here there is always a water balloon fight of some kind. Seniors vs. all others in the parking lot. Basically a tradition for the seniors. But when I graduated in 08' the younger kids filled some of their balloons with hot sauce and ended up hitting one of my buddies in the face getting it in his eyes.(yea searing pain much) Needless to say I left with my 89' covered in flour or baking powder. ( I don't remember what it was exactly) And the sheriffs were called to get us all to leave... Yea we had a bad class. haha It's all in good fun. The hot sauce balloons were uncalled for I think... If my buddy was injured those kids would have had a lawsuit to deal with. That's immaturity for ya!

 

Haha the same thing happens at my school except they filled them with urine. The cops got wind and were waiting, but everyone poped their balloons and ran.

 

i am in grade 11 now and got my third gen the last week of summer before i started grade 11 its a 1983 firebird i got it with the 2.8 v6 i was just riding along in Moms car when i saw it siting out on some guys lawn after looking at it a bit and talking to the guy i got his number and called him later on that night in the morning i got him to drive it to my house i gave him $250 and a set of subs i had for it and started to clean it up,

the interior was in really good shape other than a few cracks in the dash and a few small missing parts which i got most of now

the v6 didn't last too long as as soon as i got the firebird i planed to put a v8 in it from the start so after the unstable v6 blew i tore it apart and my buddy's lifted it out in my drive way right now i got a running 305 4brl that i am going to put in it until my 350 is finished its build up

i am hoping to have most of the car redone by spring when i get my license only learners now and i cant wait till graduation day all my buddy's with fast cars are going to have a burn out competition in front of our school , some of my friends rides are a 84 regal,79 trans am,89 gmc 2wd truck, a fox body mustang with a 350 chevy , and a bunch of vw's and Honda's

in christmas 2009 i was a junior in hs i got my first third gen it was an 89 firebird with 305 tbi and auto trans. now my senior year in hs i got an 88 firebird formula last weekend

 

got the car I have now as a sophomore in HS. Have had it since, and will hopefully have it for a long time. I kind of ignored her most of senior year when I was driving the 68 dodge charger 440 to school...a lil more power than the 305 TBI....I did paint her myself as my senior project. 9 years later. She needs repainted...

 

I got my 89 GTA in 9th grade for a birthday present, rebuilt the whole car and started driving it my junior year. senior now, def one of the nicest cars in the parking lot. Even been told my driving was questionable by the campus security!

I was a sophmore in high school when the IROC's came out in 85, but couldn't afford to buy one at the time. I was driving a 1966 Buick Skylark GS and a 1972 El Camino (which I still have) instead. No one else had a Camaro either, but that was ok...my Skylark was by far the fastest car at my school. I finally got my 85 IROC in 2010 after 25 years of waiting.

when i was in junior and senior high my dad was a salesmanager for a local chevy dealer,my MOM got a new third gen every year for about 6 years,she had an 84z,85z,86 iroc,87 iroc and a 88 iroc,all that deep mettalice blue with grey interior and t tops-she kept the 88 and let me drive it a few times my senior year,but then she sold it and in 94 ordered a 95 z 28 convertible,polo green with tan leather and top-i was long gone from home by then,but i did exercise it for her a few times!

In fact, my IROC hasn't seen the road since I was 17 or 18. Soon baby!

 

I wish mine was a 5-speed so I could do that but no one really challenges me anyway and when they do they have a truck or they just cant drive at all. Also when people ask whats in it and I say 350 they tuck their tails between their legs and all of a sudden decide they cant today. I think I also scared everyone off when this one kid with his new ford ranger decided to race me on the one day when I had another lineman friend of mine riding shotgun. He revs it and then so do I and his and everyone elses mouths drop! I floored it right when the light turned green and was actually able to chirp the tires (they are new and never have before and my car is running on 6 cylinders but that should be fixed by this weekend) and needless to say I won by alot. Turns out one of my friends was behind me and was like "when I heard you rev I was like what the hell is going on!" and we got a pretty good kick out of that.

 

I graduated in 1980, does that answer your question. I did have the honor of driving a 1968 Mercury Comet with a 289 and a 3 on the tree (ever heard of that?) I also drove a '71 ford pickup and then I got a '72 Buick GS 350 right before graduation. But I can tell you that I paid a grand total of $1,550 for the 3 of them.

 

I drove my brothers 1950 Plymouth to Senior Prom with a 3 on the tree, it is a fun car to drive, another car that I would like to get back on the road. It was almost more fun than my Camaro, for Prom anyway!

I went to high school from 94'-98' my junior year i got my first 3rd gen, it was an 85' trans am i got the 3rd gen fever hardcore! when i first saw that car i had to have it!!
no if ands or buts about it, what sucked was that my dad wasnt supportive in anything i was into, everything to him was a waste of money and stupid, he drove station wagons his whole life!!! lol, like an idiot after i graduated i sold my car, the negative influence from my dad i guess had played a roll in that so to make a long story short

I bought my first thirdgen when i was 16, it was an 84 camaro hardtop sport coupe, 350 swap TH350 trans, it was a demon, ill post before and after pics, it went from red to black with white stripes,

my second one was an 88 camaro sport coupe hardtop car, built 350 th700R4 it was gorgeous, power everything, windows, hatch release, clean int, it was this beautiful blue color..

my third thirdgen was a 1991 firebird Tripple black convertible, 350 TBI stock 700R4 trans, beautiful car, i love the they way this car was all black

my current thirdgen is a 1984 camaro Z28 T top car,

built 355, pink rods, 10:1 compression, crane cam, true duals with headman headers and flowmasters, iron heads, roller rockers, lifters and timing chain.... edelbrock 650 4BBL carb, edelbrock performer RPM intake, chrome dress up kit,

built TH350 with stage 2 shiftkit from B&M along with B&M's Megashifter paired upto a 3.73 posi rear end....

I guess I could add this. I had my 1st camaro in 1980, it was a 1978. My 1st firebird was in 1981, it was a 1978 formula 400. My first 3rd gen wasn't until April 2010, and I was 48. My wife says mid-life crisis; I say it's cheaper than another woman and another divorce.

 

..Also cheaper than a Corvette or anything like that... lol

 

I got a 83 Z/28 in my junior year, it had a LG4/T5 light gray with silver ground effects. I beat the snot out of that car and it just kept going, although it get the rear axle replaced a time or two. I know it wasn't a quick car but I could beat my friends 1970 Olds Cutlass and another friends Shelby Daytona. Sold it to get a mint 1966 Chevelle convertible. One of these days I am going to find another one like it.

 

I was Freshman in high school when i bought my thirdgen, it was an 88 iroc 350 tuneport. i drove the wheels off racing buddies and all the mexicans lil ricers never lost to one lol.a year later the trans went out and not to mention a rod knocking (heavy foot) lol i bought it for 2400 running sold it for 2200 with tranny out and rod knocking i wish i would have kept it. But recently purchased an 89 rs me and my dad are restoring

 

Got my '84 Z28 H.O. during my senior year of high school (I graduated in '99).
It's been through a bit in my ownership. It was wrapped around a telephone pole and brought back to life (drove straight as an arrow and ran great). In '03, it spun a road bearing and has now become my SLOW "restore" project. I hope to get more movement on it this summer.

I drove the 1985 firebird when I was a sophmore and junior in HS. I had a del sol that raced me once and that was really the only car that ever raced me. I think i scared most people away cause it was loud as sin with straight pipes.

Hun, they are MOST DEFINITELY just jealous little bitches. That is a phenomenal looking project car in my opinion. Kids will bash anything they don't understand, and most kids these days only know anything about imports and tuners, so they can't even begin to understand the power that an american-made (especially Chevrolet) car can put out until they actually own one or open their minds to one. Prove them stupid
