ive got an 86 firebird, and a friend has some 82 trans am fenders, i was wondering how hard it would be to put these on my car, he also has the small ground effects pieces.

 

direct swap...except your either going to have those ground effects pieces and no kit...unless you get the rest (bumpers, side skirts, ect.) or your going ot have holes where the kit were. As far as fenders, they are direct swap.

 

what do you mean they are just small pieces, are you saying i have to have the small gfx pieces? what you mean no kit?

 

oh my bad, i was reading trans am and not looking into the year. Yes they should be a direct fit/swap. No issues that i know of.

same fenders different gfx holes

82 83 84 regular t/a and s/e had the early style gfx

aero 84 had a different gfx

85-up was different again

 

did the '82 and '83 t/a's have ground effects?! never noticed em, unless it was just an option and the ones i saw didn't have em.

wow...can't believe i didn't notice that. i'm sorry...yea it does have something ahead of the wheels. either fill the holes if you have a regular bird or get the entire kit. But it will bolt up and should carry the body line.

 

yes all of them do

look closer, you cant see much of them, except in the wheel arch and along the bottom of the fender, they dont come downwards much like the aero and 85-up ones do

they are up under the front corners and are huge but lay horizontal mostly

82 83 84 is the GFX group

85-90 is the next group

91 92 is the third

 

Firechicken76 you'll have lots of holes to drill. Biggest issue is your base Firebird doesn't have the rocker brackets for the piece that goes under the door.
