GOT STRIPES???
Ok so i am undecided as to what i should do with my hood its a really nice hood no dents paint is perfect ,but it gives the car a blank look. i was thinking of getting a cowl or an ss hood but i just dont want to toss the one i got out. so anybody with a camaro that has stripes please post some pictures it would really help and give me an idea as how i want mine to look.

I prefer full length stripes over the abbreviated ones that stop o the hood.

Re: GOT STRIPES???
to keep it tasteful---claen and neat...leave them off the nose and bumper--that looks awful...like the paint dripped.
Thats how Mustangs do it
Heres a few from the gallery

Re: GOT STRIPES???
Whatever you do, make sure you follow the natural lines of the hood and don't run them straight down. They should taper with the hood.

Like...."Without full length on double stripes, what happened? Did the ends fall off? Was the painter just lazy & stop?" See...I didn't go there.
Re: GOT STRIPES???
I ended my stripes about 2.5" from the end of the front of the hood, then ran them all the way off the back of the hood. I never put stripes on the top because most of the old muscle cars never had stripes on the roof. The ran them onto the decklid and stopped halfway down the back of the spoiler. Rounded all the corners and put a 1/8" stripe around each stripe about 1/8" from the stripe. I made them kind of anniversary style. Then taped flames off and put ghost flames in the stripes on the hood. I will try and dig up some pics.
Re: GOT STRIPES???
Sorry about the quality. I'm deployed and could only take pictures of my pictures that I took the day I flew out. 1st one is after wet sanding hood, then taping off Anniversary style stripes and painting, but before the pinstripe and flames:

The second is of my father after I taped off the flames on the silver stripes. I know hes goofy looking but I couldnt pick him. He's also a high school votech autobody teacher. This is right before mixing the silver flake with clear and putting on the ghost flames:

The third is part of the tape coming off after the flames where painted on. My father got to put on the final clear as I had to leave right after this one. I have yet to ride in my freshly painted and assembled car:

I think it takes a little extra work and shows off craftsmanship when you end it early and mess with it. But I luv the way two parrallel lines complement the length of these camaros. I guess personal preference is the point.

yep. Painted.
Charcole gray inside, light gray outside. The hood has the "colorchange" paint in trible flame.

this is exactly how i am going to make my stripes ,25th anniversary style gives it a real clean look except i don't have the hood blisters ,but it will still look the same.

Re: GOT STRIPES???
Any particular reason your only going for stripes on the hood? Im just interested and when you get it done post some pictures I'd love to see how it looks! My car is still the factory 25th anniversary paint job, I love the way the stripes are designed not all one width not being full body the whole shot. I can't wait to get it re-painted (the same as it is now just new fresh glossy paint!).

Re: GOT STRIPES???
Glad you like it.
I like the stripes both on the nose/gfx and stopping on the hood. All depends what look you are going for.
If my car had been a hardtop, I wouldnt have put the stripes on the roof.
Oh yeah, most mustang stripes I see dont have the 1/8 inch accent stripes. Also, the stripes are usually painted the same width from front to back.

Re: GOT STRIPES???
Yea I would be interested in seeing some pictures. I like the way your rear spoiler sounds must look great!
Re: GOT STRIPES???
If you go stripes, go full length stripes. They are the way to go. Those factory half stripes look terrible on a well build third gen.

Oh, and im only saying this because when i look at the rear picture of my car im discusted, but i currently have tucked exhaust, tinted windows, and blacked out tail lights. Looks awesome. So, try to picture that.
----------
Oh, and i have a sick bowtie decal that carries the stripes through it completely on the back window. ill try to find a pic if anyone cares to see the it all put together.

My opinion is the stripes that come on the 25th anniversary car look great. I love them on the hood, and how they go from skinny to thick towards teh car, how the stripes are not on the roof and do not carry all the way down the back of the car. I think it looks great and sets a thirdgen camaro apart from all the other muscle cars on the road! Again just my opinion...

What??? You posted that you got your stripes and wait to give us pics...you're such a tease
Re: GOT STRIPES???
Anyways, the best way to do it is to have some grainy stripes up to the hood only accenting the scoops. Thread Starter

Re: GOT STRIPES???
I like a lot of these, I think as long as the stripe complements the body lines there is no ends of the options of graphics that can be used. If we all had the same stripes our cars wouldn't be very cool at all.
