Would C5 Z06 Rims fit a 92 without adapters?

Proud owner of a 92' Z28 Camaro.
Somehow, the rims that came with the Heritage Package have faded and I've never seen or heard of this happening before. Rather than having them painted, I've decided to just get new rims. The rims I've fallen in love with are C5 Corvette Z06 rims. If you look at the picture below I had come across, its an Fbody with those exact wheels. When I go looking for the rims, they say they only fit 93' camaros and up. What kind of adapter for the bolt pattern would I need to make them fit? And if so, does anyone know where I could find such a thing?

www.skulte.com will have what you need. Most people use the 2" adapters for vette and 4th gen wheels. The bolt pattern is the same for your can and the wheels.

Re: Would C5 Z06 Rims fit a 92 without adapters?

Unless it's a custom wheel, I can almost guarantee you're gonna need wheel adapters as other posters have said.

It has to do with the wheel offset, and you can tell pretty much by looking at them. If you look at the corvette wheel the spokes are even with the outside of the tire rim. If you look at a stock camaro rim, it has an offset... which means the center hub of the rim is actually inside the rim of the wheel, unlike the corvette rim where the hub, spokes, etc. are all even with the outside of the rim of the wheel.

So like I said, you can get a custom machined wheel, or run adapters. Adapters = one more thing to worry about coming loose for any reason. Plus you have to worry about whose making a quality adapter and what is junk. And it's extra cost on top of it. On the flip side you'll be able to run a lot of front wheel drive type rims with the adapters that you couldn't before. Pop open a summit racing catalog sometime.

Or...Just get adapters for the front & put in a 4th gen rear end.

No need for adapters for the rear then, plus you get the bigger brakes & stronger differential.

All in all...A better rear end.

Sounds like a good plan!

What kind of condition are your originals in other than the fading? I've been looking for an original set for my '92 - do you think you'd be interested in making a few bucks and selling them?

Other than a bit faded, they are in great shape, for being 17 years old of course. But as for selling them; as of now, probably not. But I could get back to you after I get everything straightened out with these rims and let you know if I changed my mind.

Re: Would C5 Z06 Rims fit a 92 without adapters?

So, thanks to all the help I got, i ended up buying 4 17" C5 Rims.
The tires are Firehawk WideOvals

I'm just waiting on the spacers to come in and then they'll be going on.
Thanks again for the help

The spindles isnt the problem. Its the offset spacing. Which is why you need to get 2in spacers. Like stephen said if you are running a 4th gen rear end then you dont need spacers. This is due to the difference in offset. Ive been looking into gettin these exact rims for my car. Id jump right on it but for right now id like to put the money into some other things first. That camaro in that pic looks really nice. I love the color, stance, everything. Who ever's car that is did a very nice job. A+ work.

That's what I did, and, if you shop carefully you can find one for about the same price as a pair of spacers

I'd like to see some pics of them on your black car CTitalian3... I often wondered how they'd look on my black IROC.

I have the C5 Z06 rims on my '91 Z28 and I think it looks great, I too used Skulte 2" adapters front and rear.
