Finally Found One!!!!!

So after extensive searching and missing many cars by days and even hours I finally found one worthy of the heart transplant. 1986 TA it has the 305 TPI which I am told runs with fuel pump but were rippin her out anyway. Needs T-Top seals and has a little rust around the rear wheel wells which I am told by professionals is nothing just needs to be brushed away because the metal is 100% solid. The front bumper cover has peeling paint. And it need a new windshield. that is about it. here are some bad night pics, I will be updating with better day pics tomorrow. Thanks for looking.

Re: Finally Found One!!!!!

850$ the guy says it wont start because of the fuel pump but honestly i tinkered for about three minutes and I think the battery is to small. So how about those 305 TPI is it worth puttin money into to try and make something sort of as a pet project or not worth it at all???

Re: Finally Found One!!!!!

The first thing you need to ask yourself is what you want to do to the car. If you plan on turning it into a drag car then ditch the TPI, its not worth the money you would have to put into it. Just like you i had cars sold out from under me untill i found my GTA. i bought it with the idea to turn it into a nice summer ride, maybe headers, new heads, and a dual exhaust, then cosmetic work. It all comes down to what you wanna use your ride for.

Re: Finally Found One!!!!!

That sounds like what I want. I want a nice ride that looks and sounds good. Not a show car by any means but a car that looks really clean.

I'd say it's an awesome buy for the money. Definitely a great place to start. Good luck and keep us posted!

Re: Finally Found One!!!!!

definitely a good find for the money, not a bad starting point. Finding these things without rust is almost unheard of around here in New England.

Those are the best one, i got my 86 iroc for $800 mainly because it didn't start because of starter problems(missing). It was sitting for 8 years also and the oil turned to sludge. But about same had it running latter that day i brought it home.

Re: Finally Found One!!!!!

Yea this car is in really good shape and the motor does run got her started today just needs a little tlc. I am still going to drop the 305 from the camaro I bought because I have been informed that it has some great heads and cam and was built really really well. So I would like to keep it I think I will be putting the whole 305 with TPI in the for sale forum.

I really can't see to good in the pics above but in the third pic it looks like there is a rust hole in the lower part of the wheel well... is this correct?

Re: Finally Found One!!!!!

You going put the 305 in from camaro is it carb or fi also is gas mileage something your hoping for.

Like you I wanted a stronger street car to cruise in I went from a 305 carb it ran good but my mileage was only 15mph an 17 on highway I now have a 355 tpi an getting 24 mph.
The tpi has killer bottom end grunt. Just my thought

Re: Finally Found One!!!!!

I have a friend that has started the 383 stroker project and he is out of money and time so he is looking to unload it. I am just a little unsure of my ability to finish it. so if I do pick it up I am sure you will see me in here alot. Gas mileage not my main concern, I mean I drive an 07 Expedition that I am lucky to get 16 mpg in plus I don't plan on using it as a daily driver except in the summer time. I guess I have alot to think about.
