Re: need car dipped!

not sure about getting the "factory e-coat applied"....your best bet would be to either use a self etching primer or an epoxy primer......about as close to the factory e-coat as your going to get.

lol thats exactly what i just said in another post... are you copieing my words of advice? yea i know you should put epoxy primer down first on bare metal or even etch first then epoxy and then all your filler... been doing this for a while now but its just a b***h to corrosion protect ALL MY FRAME RAILS AND INNER FIREWALL! but beign said that im sectioning in new quarters its not at all hard to gain axcess to the inner quarter and B pillar supports to prime. just looking for an easier way thats all...

Re: need car dipped!

A whole car dipped is about $900 to $2500 range depends on who you talk to,end up going, the size of the car and what still on the car I.E doors, lid etc etc. Realistically id say a average is about $1600. Getting it E-coated is about the same price. you would pretty much want both done around the same time. 3rdgens have alot of unseen areas and overlaps so even if you got it dipped you would really want to have it ecoated, leaving any unseen area bare would do more harm then good.

google is a wounderfull tool

Re: need car dipped!

Wow so its been 3 years! Hard to believe but yes i took my car to redi strip in Indy and it took them 3 weeks bit only cost me $575 and i bought a gallon of epoxy primer for $150 and its still sitting in its epoxy primer on a car dolly and no rust issues. They even went inside my frame rails. Only thing i did not have them do was my roof because of warpage issues... mind you i had no floor pans, wheel tubs or quarters on it when i gave them the car. Bare body with no suspension. They had no problem with that.

So all they did was dip it to strip it and then you had the primer sprayed on rather than dipped?

Re: need car dipped!

There is a place that dips and coats close to STL on the IL side but I cant get ahold of my friend that knows who it is.
Don't think they have a website.

Edit: APC Metal Diping 618 476 3500 I don't know about the work they do so it would be best to call.

Another friend had his done here and is very happy with the work.

I used a special spray gun that had a 5' flexible wand on the end that sprayed 360°. Quite simple.
