Removing the flip up "eyes"...converting??
My '91 FB Formula's headlights are winking. They go up one-by-one or just one at a time. So I've been trying to decide if they should just disappear due to that and I don't like the wide-eyed look when they flip up. Not too keen on the suprised look it has at night
Has anyone tried to convert the lamp assembly to just a solid one like the Camaros? I'm having trouble picturing how it would look. And if its a bad idea, what are some other options? I really don't want to keep the flippy lights, they just have that deer in a headlight look

TDS delrin rebuild kit, $cheap, about 2 hours of your time, and you can have factory fresh headlights that work LONG after the car has rusted out around them.

Re: Removing the flip up "eyes"...converting??
Thanks, I'll consider it. I am keeping all my original parts and keep them in working order so that would be a great place to re-man those assemblies. But I still am curious if it would look good to install a solid assembly. I know the framework on the front will allow the two-light camaro style light assembly, its whether they would look goofy, sunk in, or too wide to fit. Any ideas?

There are a multitude of topics on this.
There's the Lazy Eye mod
And then those who have completely eliminated the popups.

Re: Removing the flip up "eyes"...converting??
so i'm wondering if that repair kit will fix my headlights. it sounds like they do the same thing as they describe, they're flimsy and shake with every bump. sometimes they fall when i hit a big enough bump. they'll go half way up and fall back down, won't come up at all. one will, one won't. yea it has a mind of it's own. sometimes they delay when i shut off the lights too. the lights will still be up, then later on they'll go back down.
so you think that'll fix my problem too?

If the motor keeps spinning long after the headlight goes up, then its time to replace the bushings in there as they are worn out.
Do NOT under any circumstances buy a Brass replacement set. The worm gear should be the STRONGEST part in the entire assembly, if its not, the worm gear could get chewed up and then you need an entire motor assembly. The delrin set should last decades.

yea, when the headlight finally goes up, if it even does! sometimes the motors will spin, and the headlights will try to go up and just either fall back down or just open up slightly.

I did the "Redraif" flushmount swap on my car and love it. Though it is a ton of work to get stock looking, it is well worth it. I think she has a guide posted up I did mine slightly different where you don't see but it's still the same idea.

Both of those look like photoshops to me.
On the LS1 style the projector style is squished and the angle seems wrong.
On the LT1 style the headlight bezel extends into the bumper and too far into the hood. So its either a completely custom job, or again a photoshop.

They might be photoshops. I thought it said something about a kit on th e page i found those pics. I'll look at it more.
EDIT: I found this:
http://www.xcarbonfiber.com/p1608/98...duct_info.html
I don't know if it's fake or what. Seems pretty expensive for what it is.

I have thought about trying to do something similar, I mean they do make those kits for the corvettes and also for mazda rx-7's, I just dont know how it would work well look rather on our cars. Maybe if a portion was paintable it would look better, but Im not sure... never seen an actual kit though.
