Driver side floor pan replacement

After reading some valuable info on this site, I've been able to ALMOST replace my driver side floor pan. The driver Ttop leaks and caused rust on the floor pan. I didn't take photos before i cut out the old. oops. Anyways, i decided to install the pan flush and weld in and grind down welds for a seamless finish. I have about 15hrs into this project so far and it's been relatively easy but really slow going. I still have to remove it a bunch more times to drill holes for welds into subframes and trim the front in flush. Already have the por15 ready for bottom and top of new floor, then red paint over the por15.

The car is on jack stands and i have competition sfconnectors already installed and welded. Lemme know what you guys think so far.

Re: Driver side floor pan replacement

Looks great! Are you going to put any sealer back or just use the POR 15?

Re: Driver side floor pan replacement

its goin to be welded in all the way around so i had not planned on using seam sealer as it will be sealed by the welds. Also, there is no overlap anywhere to use the seam sealer. Should i use it anyways? What do u all think?

Looking good!!

Is the "new" pan aftermarket? I assume it is because there is no seat brackets. When you put the brackets in after the pan is done I would definitely add extra bracing up the sides for strength. Nothing too fancy but you want to take some of the pressure off the welds your going to make around the edges....

Re: Driver side floor pan replacement

Yes the pan is aftermarket. I ordered it through Parts Source here in Canada. It was 370 plus tax, but well worth it. I will have some pictures soon. Yes, I still have to reinstall the seat rails after i fix them up a bit. So far, the pan is in and partially welded.

Looking great!
I remember installing floor pans in my Nova, fun fun.
What are you plans on sealing the floor pan, if you dont mind me asking. I might have some suggestions, just as someone who has done it a couple of times.
I also welded mine in all the way around but just for good measure, bought a 4 dollar bottle of body sealer and and went around them, putting a bead of sealer down and smearing it evenly with my finger across the welds.

Keep on keepin on!

Re: Driver side floor pan replacement

I opted to go the patch route on mine, new pans look much better!

One thing I am going to try is spray on truck bed liner for the inside. After I have chassis savered the floors of course.

Re: Driver side floor pan replacement

sweet, put up more pictures as you go. I just had to put in a big section on my passenger side from just behind the front seat bracket forward. all coated just need to seal it. mine was because of my a/c drain problem.

Looking good. I put the full pan in mine as it made everything much easier.

Keep at it.

Re: Driver side floor pan replacement

I am trying to replace my son's 92 Z28 driver side floor pan and have tried buying it from three different companies only to have something happen to where we never received it I'm not saying that somebody is out there trying to stop us but it sure seems like it does anybody have an idea where I can get a full floor pan? I know it's one big run on sentence but I'm using voice to text and man you did a hell of a job on yours!
