I got backed into a few months ago, and now have a crack right were the headlight bucket curves up on the passanger side. I dont really see a need to replace the WHOLE nose since its not a huge crack. Has anyone repaired something like this? What did you use.

Don't know the name, but there's special stuff that has to be used - should be able to get at local auto body store or Eastwood.com

I read through it and it looked to me like it focused mainly on small repairs. I wouldnt classify this as small..

 

autozone carries a product by 3M called bumoer repair. its a 2 part epoxy that comes with a fiber mesh for reinforcing and a spreader as well. it can be used for a filler as well as fixing the crack. im using it on my firebird bumper now. seems to work well. you may new 2 packages of it though for that size crack. it runs about $7 per package.

 

I have fixed a lot of bumpers and I have done them ever way I can think of and the only way I have found to fix them for good is to plastic weld them if you dont have a welder you can take the bumper off and take it to a body shop and they can weld it for about $50.00 bucks and you shouldt have no more problems with it good luck

 

I work in a body shop part time....usually we just replace bumper covers if theyre cracked that bad....

 

When all is said and done it is likely cheaper (or not much more expensive) to replace the entire cover. It is not just the labour in fixing the crack but in the prep etc. for paint.

If you just want to fix the crack and not paint it then there are many plastic repair kits out there that work good enough.

 

I just pulled the nose off tonight, im gonna take to the shop and see if we cant work some magic on it.

 

Thats a tough spot to repair. Plastic welding is really the best way to do it.
