What was wrong with the fit? Where did you get them from?

Re: metro or soffseal weather stripping?

1aauto,,,,, quality was poor in the corners as far as length goes,,,, corners werent where they sould have been and the material was thin and very prone to tearing,,,,,,, junk in my opinion.... I bought the ttop kit a few years ago and it was an 8 piece for $349,,,,, you get what you pay for and that was the cheapest kit I found .

you my friend are on crack. i bought a seal set from 1aauto for my old 90 and it was perfect, perfect fix, wasnt thin, easy to go in ( removing the old ones are a PITA) but everything was perfect. except you gotta shut the door alittle harder after this is done but thats to be expected with new seals. granted mine was a hardtop but still shouldnt be any different

Re: metro or soffseal weather stripping?

I JUST installed my set of Metro seals from 1AAuto. Everything went on perfectly and there is a huge difference in the wind noise. I'll give it a few weeks for everything to set up and 'conform' to the door and windows. These things are thick!

Re: metro or soffseal weather stripping?

I ordered a set of Metro weather stripping from summitracing and I am happy with the quality. The installation was pretty easy and the noise reduction is incredible.

Re: metro or soffseal weather stripping?

we offer both the original GM seals (t-tops) and the Metro seals for the 3rd gens, but that's it for brands. We (and our customers) have had great luck with the metro stuff for some time; probably the route I'll personally be going with my TA when I do my seals in the next year or so. These cars are so picky when it comes to anything regarding the t-tops that it definitely can be a chore to get everything just right.

wanab03ss - how long ago did you get the seals? shoot me a pm or give me a call on monday - metro stuff has a good warranty and you're covered if we can find your order

wanab03ss--
PM me your email. I'll MMS you pics of our Metro t-top stripping.
There was bad leaks at first, but some adjustment & a few dabs of sealer fixed it.
As far as corners, ours fit good.

1AAuto, is Metro & Sofseal the same company???

while soffseal and metro do carry similar parts, they are not the same company. i hear good and bad about both, but many more happy people with the metro stuff. its alllllllll about the install. I used metro stuff years before I was selling it for 1AAuto without issue, but I don't mind if you take my feedback with a grain of salt (since I do sell it )

no worries, reasonable question. lots of companies rebadge the same parts these days with different labels, see it all the time myself

Re: metro or soffseal weather stripping?

Dan if Im confusing you guys with a different company I apologize,, I know I bought door sweeps from you guys but I could of sworn the OER weatherstripping was from you also,,,,, eitherway you guys dont make it, just sell it. For the record I have nothing but good stuff to say about 1a,,, one of the 2 door sweeps I had was damaged when I got it,, I called, sent them a picture of the bent corner and they had a new one shipped next day.... great customer service.

hey no worries - if you got a part that's bad and its under warranty, we're gonna take care of ya. that's the least you should expect from a vendor. shoot me a pm with your address and I'll see what I can find for order history.
