*&^#@$^! I can't believe this happened to me!

I was out cruisin' on Sunday, just minding my own business. I was on a two lane highway (one lane each way. [duh])with a speed limit of 55 mph. I slowed and put on my signal to make a left turn when I happened to notice a large Bowtie in my rearview mirror. I mashed the gas and tried to get out of the way, but was unsuccessful.

I AM SO MAD!! The guy admitted he wasn't paying any attention to the road, and said he is really sorry blah blah blah... but I still don't feel any better about it. It goes in the shop Monday to be fixed, maybe I will feel better about it after that. How could that guy have been so stupid!? He didn't even TAP the brakes, just slammed right into me going about 60. Luckily the car goes when I hit the gas or else it would have been a lot worse.

And just to rub it in... at the body shop I am taking it to; the owner had a full restored red '89 IROC-Z in the garage that he felt the need to show off to me when I went in for the estimate. LOL. Can't say I blame him.

looks like it's mostly the bumper and the spoiler, not the sheet metal. You lucked out there. Still sucks though.

Well, I feel for you buddy, and hopefully the damage is only cosmetic, nothing to the rear end or underside of the car, yeah?

I know you feel like crap, but trust me, that guy feels worse! Why, you ask?

How could one sleep at night knowing they hit a third gen Camaro? :P

Yeah, it's a pain in the butt when something like that happens, but like you said, it could have been worse and thank God no one was hurt. Hope everything is covered by the guys insurance and you get a good repair on your IROC.

No doubt! It helped that I saw it coming.. if I had stayed on the brake there would have been more of an impact and more damage.

Yeah, good luck with getting it repaired WOman. That sucks. I really hate being in traffic lately. I try to avoid it. It never fails, every single time I'm driving, I see some retard on their cell phone. Makes me wish I could reach into their car, snap the phone in half, and tell them to pay attention to the [Bleep] road.

This happened out in the middle of no where and he wasn't on his phone; who knows what he was doing... But I'm with you... traffic drives me crazy! And people TEXTING while driving is even worse!

Edit: this is where is happened...

That sucks man. At least it didn't crinkle the quarter. That would have been very bad. I definitely think the Camaro handled the indignity well.

Make sure to have it extremely well checked under the bumper etc. Just because the quarter was not bent does not mean there is not serious damage to the not seen sheet metal. Specailly after looking at their SUV.

Also make sure the other driver is charged if it is not too late (or they are not already).

I think they were just off on their own world, or Highway Hypnosis (insert serious theme here). people driving while texting or on their phone, seen that way to many times with people beside me, scares the hell out of me, almost got into it with my Camaro because a guy wasn't paying attention and crossing lanes while on his phone, I wanted to leap out of my car all Speed style and punch him in the face.

LOL, it's funny that the shop owner wanted to show you his... Look at it this way: Knowing that he is a thirdgen fan, he will probably pay close attention to yours and do the best repair possible!

My '90 RS is the same color as your IROC... And I also own a Trailblazer, like the one that rear-ended you! (Mine's white, though.) Looking at the extent of the damage to the trailblazer vs. the damage to your car, makes me feel less secure in my trailblazer...

I guess they don't make em like they used to, if her car is still structurally sound then that's a proven point, I always feel safe in my camaro, because if it goes through a head on collision with a honda, the people in the honda will be dead and their car toast and my car flies through both ends, I am pretty sure the Camaro would start up and drive away crippled, who else could boast that claim lol.

Wow you did get lucky, that you didn't get much damage. I am surprised at the damage to his car though. The only thing about these cars getting wreaked is if the claims go through insurance, which most do. They are forever on there history.
By law all auto and body shops have to report to Carfax. That is what sucks. But hey none of us are selling our cars, right? lol

Honestly I expected a lot worse damage when you said he hit you going 60, but then I opened the pictures up.. that wasn't too bad, considering..
