84 Z28 to 91-92 gfx swap
Hey guys. I've done quite a bit of research on the subject of swapping out the gfx from a 91-92 to my 84 z28, and understand there will be alot of drilling required to get them to fit right. Is there any less work involved in swapping in the gfx from the 85-90 year range? I wanted to see some pictures of some of your swaps to see if thats what I want to do, or just try and sell this one and buy a 91-92. If you show me some pics, I would greatly appreciate it. Any tips as well?

Hey, I guess I'm sorta gonna answer my own question. I'll update you with pics as I go along doing the swap. Got the back bumper yesterday and threw it on, fit perfect. Still waiting on the front nose and side skirts (part i dread making new holes).

The rear bumper and quarter flares are a bolt on. the front bumper is a bolt on(you will need the support to. if i remember right they are different.) and im not sure about the skirts but i can find out for you.
Edit: the quarter flare are bolt on if you already have flares on the car. if you have a base modle or something you will have to drill some holes.

Re: 84 Z28 to 91-92 gfx swap
i put the 85-90 gfx on an 84 z28 a while back. The nose just bolts right up. I also got the rear bumper cover, quarter pieces, door pieces and rocker gfx and the front chin spoiler. Everything was pretty simple and straight forward and bolted up no problem. The only drilling I had to do was where the chin spoiler attatches to the bottom of the fenders and made a new mounting plate cause the old one the studs broke off.
I sold the car shortly after.
I now have a 89 iroc im putting back together and i put new fenders on it and they arent drilled for the chin spoiler but its not hard just take your time.
If you have the basic common sense to do the bolt on swaps then drilling a couple holes wont be a problem.
As for the nose, i bolted it up with the header panel and all still intact. Hardest part is there it attatches to the fenders is a little pain in the tail to get to the nuts

OP, do you plan to sell the front spoiler from your 84? I have an 84 z28 without a front spoiler and would be interested in purchasing yours.

Sounds good. There really arent' any tricks. If the pictures are on your computer you can add them as attachments to the post. As long as you don't do the "quick reply" when replying, below the area where you type your message is an "Additional Options" area with a button for "Manage Attachments". Just use that.

Here is a picture of the front bumper and spoiler. No problems at all with either of them (no broken tabs etc.). The only thing wrong that could be considered a problem is the black primer is starting to spider crack. No rips or tears in either of them.

Re: 84 Z28 to 91-92 gfx swap
I have an 82 which is the same as an 84 AFAIK. I have 86 ground effects on the car but I kept the 82 front bumper (and 82 chin spoiler).
There were a few holes that needed to be drilled (mostly where the old ones were using the old style GM molding tabs/clips). You also have to replace the rear bumper cover.
