???

Why would it be locked? He wants to know if a 2nd gen front clip will fit a 3rd gen. Its in the body section and has to do with modifying a 3rd gen.

Youve been on this forum for almost 6 years with almost 600 posts and dont understand the rules yet?

Just seems like any mention of a 2nd gen usually gets locked, that's all...

Re: will a 78 front clip fit a 92?

The 78 is a completely different design from an 82-92, as mentioned above.

However, a 3rd Gen Camaro nose will fit a Toyota truck!!

Bwahahahaha

Unstable, that's too much. LOL What a waste of a good third gen front. It's sitting at a lowes home improvement store, buying braces for the nose? Hope he gets treated wood!

Man, just think what a 79-81 nose and shaker hood could do for an 82-84 T/A!

Don't tell anyone, but I actually like 2nd gens a LOT better than 3rd gens...just wish there was a forum of this quality for them. Oh and it would be cool if you could buy a nice running/driving example that's not rusted out for under $10k.

You need to come out to Washington. We dont have rust out here! Here is a great example of what you are looking for at a giveaway price...

http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/cto/2812811143.html

and another

http://seattle.craigslist.org/oly/cto/2801333080.html

and another

http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/ctd/2812178537.html

and another

http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/cto/2811421266.html

Here's even a 5 speed IROC for $1500 that looks pretty good.

http://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/cto/2808500198.html

Again, we dont have rust out here and our interiors are all faded and cracked because its cloudy here all the time! We barely get over 70 here in the summertime...PLUS we just dont have the musclecar following out here that you might have in other states..That helps keep the values down.

Its worth buying a car here and shipping it back.

The first one I'd buy and do a motor swap.

And he even has the same wheels I have on my thirdgen!!!

The 2nd gen forum is www.nastyz28.com. I have a 1970 RS on a rotisserie right now and it looks like it'll be there for life!!!.

You can get nice 2nd gens for well under 10,000. Especially the late 70s. Not so much the 70 to 73. The time to look is right now as they are not moving fast (at least in Houston) and the prices are relatively low. I missed a really nice 77 Z28 with 4 speed on evilbay for 6700 or so about a month ago. Thats when I decided to fix up the bird.

Christ!
We don't have any good condition second gens for under 10 grand in the northeast. I'm shocked at how cheap those are.

Here's an example http://longisland.craigslist.org/cto/2766170674.html
The car is in pieces.

I searched for firebirds on the Seattle CL and all you guys have is 2nd gens.

Ok that was tacky but I agree with most in that they are decent looking muscle cars (especially the 70-73)..

And finally...the comparison. No doubt that 3rd gens just have a look the 2nd gens cant touch...IMO

Hey, I know that car! The owner is the president of the local classic car club in my hometown. That pic was taken at our first annual Veteran's Day car show.

In my very humble opinion, neither car works with a 2 foot tall cowl. It would be better to hang the engine out the top.

Photoshop of 78 ta bumper with bottom holes opened and connect that's what I plan to do on my 87 in a couple months.my goal is to have the body smoothed out and have a retro theme. 78 firebird bumper spoiler and dash, 91-92 camaro ground effects, shaved rear bumper, 70's camaro teardrop hood scoop, 67 bird tail lights, and a few other secret mods I am gonna try to have mine ready for paint by june

Not to hijack thread but Have u ever seen a rolled rear pan on mini trucks? Basicly I am just making the bumper even with the tail lights cuz I don't like how far they stick out it looks bulky and weird. Shaving the bumper has been discused many times on this site but only one person has done anything close to it and he completly reshaped the whole *** end of his car to look more modern... I plan to make mine kinda like stock but only. Have a one or two inch lip. Would show photoshops of that but comp is dead right now and don't have those pics on my phone. If u search this sight u can find a couple photoshops that have been done

I don't think that is for me, but I have to say there is no shortage of creativity on here! Can you photoshop a Shaker scoop and Hurst Hatches on that? That is really different. And at least you won't ever have to worry about a headlight motor going out on you. It's kind of growing on me.

I hold my tongue on what I think of that.

I'll just say, If you want a 78 bird, buy one.

Re: will a 78 front clip fit a 92?

I thik the look is cool. The big Issue is trying to make everythig line up and fit. I have a feeling the 2nd gen is wider and the alignment is going to be way off. Might be wrong but you would be better off time wise to have someone mold a front end for you - big money and time into this unless you are a master bodyman and even that might not help. I doubt it can be done and have the right look but I will wish you lots of luck.

Re: will a 78 front clip fit a 92?

Second gen firebirds are a half inch wider than third gens iirc width is not an issue its making it flow with fenders and hood that will be bigest challenges. I am probaly gonna make a fiberglass copy of the 78 bumper. And fiberglass that into my fenders. And idk bout the hood yet. Prolly weld the front end of a second gen hood onto mine and blend that into the flat 3d gen hood and fill in hood corners cuz there will be no more flip up lights. I ain't no master or profesional body man but I am positive this wont be to dificult to do

The photoshop of the second gen nose on the 3rd gen TA was very good, but I don't know if I like the looks of it. The C4 with the second gen front clip is just wrong LOL!
