Hatch Motor Housing Broke

The clear housing for the hatch pull down motor/assebly is broke on my car. I discoverd it today when it wouldn't latch. It looks like someone has rigged it in the past with the wrong screws/bolts.

The motor still works great. I stuck the screw that fell out back in the hole it's supposed to screw into to hold the assebly up. It will fall out again soon I'm sure.

Has anyone had this problem in the past? Can we buy those plastic housing from the dealer or something like that?

That's it.

I might try to glue mine first. Then I'm going to check with the dealer if I can get the lazy parts guy to look up the number. Then I'll get one from the dealer or thirdgenresouce.com

Try this....hold the assembly together.Drill you some holes to wire it together.Mine exploded about 2 years ago.I used some small bailing wire to hold it together. It looks like hell but works perfectly. Besides...who's going to see it?

Mine is still holing strong but the motor decided to take a dump. Now I have to slam the hatch to shut it .But the plastic housing is still together!

If your looking for a fix and don't have the dough to fix it with...this will work.Trust me

I did a search, ok he's right. To get the little peices you have to buy the whole thing. oh well mine should be ok, they aren't that worn out yet.

Check both pontiac and chevy parts counters. I found the plastic gear for 6.?? and the plastic guides for 2.??( a piece) at one and the plastic housing (in stock!) for 26.?? at the other. I think some of these counter dudes won't look hard enough.

i tried using plastic solvent, but it didn't hold for very long. i like the bailing wire idea, i would have tried it if i had thought of it. instead i just bought a replacement for about $35.

I took my track guides back out to day, I had 2 on backward, now it works good. They are still cracked and worn like hell but they work for now and probably for a long time.

So you've got them at a dealership? Do you have a part number or anything?
