Door won't shut
Hey I previously just bought a 1987 305 auto z28 with t tops and the driver side door will not close. The hinges don't look damaged and the passenger door works just fine. When I shut it I can see the gap from the inside

Re: Door won't shut
The pic is too dark to see any real detail. Is the pin on the frame lined up correctly with the latch "throat"?

Re: Door won't shut
Pic looks clearer now. It looks like the latch is pushed up and tilted and maybe the door metal is riding on the pin. Has the door sagged? Try putting some white electrical tape or some other marker on the latch and/or pin and close with the handle pulled up. This should show you where it's contacting. Also maybe remove the pin and close the door to see just how it's aligned without sitting on the pin. The pin shouldn't push the door up or down but just hold it tight in its natural position.

Re: Door won't shut
The groove in the striker bolt really makes it look like it's the door metal that's riding on it and not the latch guide. Take the bolt off and see where the door sits. That needs to be correct first. You may need to replace the door hinge pins or re-adjust the door before trying to get the latch lined up right.
