sniff sniff, sob sob My car is gone!

While driving today, my car dedcided it didn't want to be part of this world any more and commited suicide. It seems a rod exited itself out the oil pan. I guess I am lucky cause I was going to go to PA Junkyard (about 2 hours away) yesterday and pick up body parts. It could have died on the way so I am lucky. Parts are for people who want them or if someone wants the entire car, let me know. Thanks to everyone who gave me information on how to fix things, you really helped alot. I may or may not buy another 3rd gen. I am looking at a 79 bird and a 80 camaro not too far from me or a Wrangler. Thanks again everyone and good luck.

If you just blew the engine, then that is the perfect excuse to install a 350! Secondgens just don't come close in the handling department to a thirdgen, and thirdgens can be made to run just as strong. I have a '70 Camaro, and as much as I love it (and my other musclecars) I have to admit that my thirdgens just drive alot nicer.

**** man dont let that kill your car! Even if you dont want to build your own custom motor, just buy a zz4 and drop it in, my budys got one, trust me you ll love it! It ll make you love your car even more, and a 2nd gen cant handle a corner at all, and alot of extra weight

No kidding, if it's just the engine keep the car man, just drop in a new engine. If mine ever went I'd just hunt down a replacement engine.. actually I've got my eyes on the GM crate engine the Ramjet 350... what a nice engine...

NOOOOO! After all we've been through on these boards, you CAN'T DO IT!!! Go to www.car-part.com and do search for engines, it is self explanitory. At Hunt's Point Salvage, which is right near you you can pick up a used engine. There are not many of us left!
Hey do you have that formula hood with the power bulge J/K
Good Luck whatever you decide.

How's that saying go, 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it.' Hell man, it's broke and now you have every reason to fix that problem. Like everyone has been saying, drop in a new engine. The cost of the engine is going to be way cheaper than picking up a new ride.

I would love to keep the car but the expense is getting to me. I am trying Hunt's Point today and see what they can do. If anyone in the NY area has a spare 305 sitting around let me know. And yes I do have the power bulge hood.

WELL I FOUND IT! A 1981 Z28 Camaro. With T-tops, power windows locks and brakes, a/c and a system being put into it. And get this, 49,000 original miles. The damn engine still has the original blue paint on it. Its a 350 4 barrel and the guy is asking around 4 grand. The interior is MINT! The exterior has a ding on the fender and the roof. The Paint is MINT! Going to see if I can persuad him to drop the price a little.
