Got My New Recalled Buckles
Got My New Recalled Buckles
yep, the rumorwas right, the buckles have been recalled and i just got my new ones.
i just went into the local GM dealership and told the guy behind the desk that i think there have been recalls on my car and i wanted ym new seatbelts. aparently only the "female end" is recalled so i have my old belts, but hey, i finally screwed the dealer instead of them doing me. rumor also has it that the injection fule lines have been recalled as well, but i dont want to make all the mechnics go through all these books again

Thats ok, I'll go make them suffer. I'm heading down to my GM dealership to get another scerutiy key made, I'll just harass mine about fuel lines and buckels and anything else I can get my hands on. LOL
Oh sweet jebus. You better believe I am going to go and take anything I can get. Only if they will agree to give me the part and let me install them myself later. Otherwise maybe I'll just strangle someone instead. Someone will pay for the previous abuse of my car.

there is no way that the'll let you install anything yourself. i thought they'd let me to the seatbelts right, its one torx bolt and poof, your done... but no, its a stupid "recall" thing. when i told them i wanted my new buckles, it took like 6 guys going through books which made me laugh, than today it took 1hr15min to install new buckles, i was kinda choked..

What years does this recall apply to??
Is it the front or rear buckles?
Sounds like the front.
Our car has the ragged out recepticles. The plastic part that holds the thingy up. Does a new plastic part come with the recall??
We've been trying to find replacements without having to go through the dealership.
Thanx

125,000 miles and still going strong.
Only minor mods planned for the near future.
Like headers, flowmaster exhaust, some ignition mods, K&N airfilter, Perhaps a chip if needed.
Waiting for the motor to blow up so I can install a ZZ4 crate motor. Let's just hope it don't blow up too soon.

When I had mine done, I picked up the car and saw that I had 3 gray belts and 1 black one.
I was livid. They said that there are no more gray ones. I told them to switch the guts over to the gray one and they wouldn't do it, nor would they give me the gray belt so I could do it.
I got ****ed even getting a free recall!

What do you think the chances are of them really running out of gray belts from their entire back stock of them right in the middle of your recall? Sounds like someone at that dealer is just lazy and didn't want to search hard enough for a matching 4th. Some dealer or warehouse somewhere has to have one. The way they did it surprises me, too, as they were only going to replace the guts when I took mine in. Have you tried resolving the issue with another dealer?
On a similar note, has anyone been successful at opening the buckles and replacing the springs and button? If some dealers do this, there must be a way to do it without breaking the plastic housing. So you could maybe order the guts and replace them yourself so long as you're not ordering the parts under a recall notice.

hrmm, i just had my buckle end replaced its the whole darn works, it looks bettwe than the cracked and faded orangish ones from before, but i might paing the push down to match the color of my car. GM will give you all 4 new buckles, but i only wanted the front ones down because i took the rear's out. whats this about getting a new belt? they told me it was a buckle only recall...
Guys I'm the third owner of My 1987 Z28 and have no Idea of the original owner or place of purchase, can I just take my car to any GM dealer and get this done? My buckle ends the plastic parts are all busted and I think even missing in the back will they replace all this for free? Thank You!
What's the recall number? They should have given you a print out or receipt with the recall number on it.
