What kind of car? Obviously third gen but Bird or Maro? I have a 1987 Iroc that just got an interior overhaul. I recommend fourth gen seats. I pulled mine from a '95 Camaro and they bolted right into the existing setup. I got my carpeting from Ebay (http://www.1aautomotive.com/). I made a custom dash panel and bought aftermarket gauges from Classic Instruments. I changed the shifter, pedals and steering wheel. I also swapped out all of the grey plastic for black. It all depends on your taste and how involved you want to get. Check out my sig for pictures of my interior so far. I still have to redo the door panels and headliner.

You might want to go with a little switch panel... depends if your car has an overhead console or not. If it does, you could remove those number "dial" things and put it there. Or, you could do what I'm in the process of doing and make a plate for the ashtray and put them down there. Assuming you don't smoke, of course...

The best looking seats I've seen are in some of the 95 to present Mercedes. the black leather seats are beautiful.

ive changed mine over from red, and its finally starting to look good. Ive changed the carpet to grey (donor car) along with all the rear plastic (donor car). I went to the 145 speedo, added a 5 inch monster tach, a black leather grant GT steering wheel. grey seats out of a 95 Firebird (very nice), a black lower center console, door panels out of a 92, and some 4 point racing harnesses. Its almost done now, i just have to do the headliner and the speaker covers and its finally complete. check it out...

Now i just gotta paint the thing.

Eric

EDIT: just to give you an idea of what it looked like when i bough it:

Bryan,
thanks for the complement. I didn't go with leather for two reasons. First, im on a budget. Leather would have cost at least twice as much as my cloth ones. and two, it gets pretty hot in the summer here, and i didn't want to burn my a$$ everytime i got in my car.

As you can you can see from my profile,I live in the UK,which is where I bought these seats. They now cost approx $1000 each.
I'm sure there are manufactures in the U.S.who make similar seats.
Good Luck

I got my seats out of a '96 Camaro and I love 'em. Also I'd look for a new center console. You should also make some custom door panels that way no one else would have any like yours and it would be a lot cheaper too.

Also I saw you were from Madison, MS... I'm from Florence, MS... nice to see someone on here from around here

not sure if this link will work, but I just re-did mine from red to grey and almost everything is new.The car is a 86 and the seats and plastic are from a 92.The only thing left to do is weld in the rear shoulder belt anchors.and a few minor things.$1000 will do it as far as carpet, headliner, etc. The small things cost alot.I spent $100 on new shifter ball and e-brake handle.

Here are my seats. I got them from a 94 Z28.

My Interior

Paid 300 for them about a year ago, they were in perfect condition, and the drivers side is power.

Reborn,
my seats came out of a 95 firebird, my carpet, rear plastic, sun visors, sail panels and and rear seatbelts all came out of an 88 TA. so to you answer your question, yes most parts will swap over perfectly. The center console and dash pads are the only things taht some to mind that arent a direct swap.

How do you think a set of black GTA cloth seats will go to finish off my black interior swap? I have been swapping my interior in my '83 since the beginning of the summer. It is my first car and I wanted to fix up my interior since it was shot. I bought mint condition black interior pieces from a '91 TA, black floormats with the screaming chicken, & a t-top bag. I really wanted a set of black seats...but they were impossible to find. This guy has a set of mint black cloth GTA seats...and he is going to give them to me for $300 plus shipping. He lives in NJ, and I live in NY...so it shouldnt be too much for shipping. How comfortable are these seats? I was originally going to get 4th gen seats...but I cant find a set of black seats. Do you think the GTA seats are worth $300? He said they are the power lumbar so I imagine they are comfortable. Let me know what you think on how they look, how comfortable they are, and the cost. Thanks.

BryanJ I got my headliner from the thirdgenresource also. Mine fits ok. I'm not sure about the dome light though. I didn't put it back on becasue I lost those little metal things that hold it on. It seems that they aren't going to hold it on because of the pressure the headliner puts on it.

I found my seats at Rankin County Auto Parts over in Pearl. They had 2 wrecked Camaros *4th Gen* about a month or two ago. I'm gonna head over there soon to see if they got anything else. Possibly center console and other lil things. You prolly have seen my camaro around. I work in Jackson at Primos Hunting Calls and this guy that worked there lived in Madison. And I go up there to Northpark a lot.

I just swapped out my tan interior for a combination black charcoal. Hope to take pics soon but I've been lazy. Where is everyone findind these fourth gen seats? I ended up going with the cloth 84z charcoal and black with the diagonal stripes. Looks good because I grabbed the door panels to match. Carpet and headliner redos are a must for anyone changing there interior for that finished clean look.

damn USA-1, how the hell did you work in such a little space? my car looks exactly like yours, and ive been thinking of throwing an a 4th gen interior.... what you did looks good! never thaught about keeping the stock grey speaker grills, but it looks good with the contrast. as for the interior body panels, did yopu paint them or get them from a black interior camaro? i was thinking about painting mine....

i would kinda like to do the top in mylar, but i cant find a distributer for it, i cant find any place to buy the raw stuff.... all i find are *** damn balloons....

anyways, later
