Hi guys,

The drivers door on my 85 firebird is shot, the hinges are wore out, the bottom has a rust hole in it, and the window regulator just went over the weekend (when i was trying to roll the window down, and get out in the trailer).... So i just want to replace the whole thing with a used one, ready to go.

I think i found a realy nice 1990 Iroc door localy for a good price. Will that fit? Someone told me once the body lines were not the same, but they bolted in place, i dont know if they were blowing smoke, though.

if it fits, and the body lines are right, what about the interior handles, and where the interior parts mount? window regulators the same?

Basicaly, can I bolt it on and go, or is it too much headache??

I think it will be a bit different. I have a 90 iroc vert and the bastard door I have on driver side is much different.

#1 ground FX are different, I have a big gap at the front fender, and the molding doesnt line up. I am suspecting this door is from either a bird or an earlier year camaro. Wouldnt be surprised if bolt holes may have been slightly moved also.

I did pull it off and rebuilt the hinges .... pretty easy job, work out too -now closes nice.

 

All 82-92 3rd gen doors will interchange & are identical except for items on them, but the doors themselves will interchange.

Ground FX are obviously different between various doors but can be swapped. Interior panels are different but can be swapped. GTAs have a different arm rest that requires a different mount for them but that can be swapped too. Manual & power windows are diferent items but can be swapped out too.

But the basic doors themselves are identical.

I don't ground Fx, so that's not an issue.

 

Iroc doors will have holes for the GFX you have to have welded up. Otherwise the same.

 

The only bad thing is that is the door that has your vehicle identification on it. I try to keep the original Dr door on all of my vehicles just in case the gov'ment has any questions.

So you have never seen the DMV or Police or Emissions personal open the door to double check VIN?
