Re: plasti dipped camaro

Curious, did you use a spray gun or just plasti-dip in cans?

Looks like cans. Look how blotchy the pattern is.

Re: plasti dipped camaro

Oof. That looks terrible. The only way to make it better is to strip it and do it correctly. No need to post additional pics....we've seen enough.

That stuff comes off with a plastic spreader. It's actually cool for accents and stripes that you don't want to commit to.

True, but most painters want to do accents and stripes with a gun. Mask off your areas, shoot, and done.

Plasti-dip allows you to basically spray a vinyl like compound on the car, with no permanent commitment.

If it looks like that, I certainly wouldn't want to commit. It's hack, looks terrible, and a waste of money. It's unfortunate that so many choose to do this to third gens. JMHO.

This is high-end compared to the rolled on jobs and normal hackery we see.

First, I will give you props for a good effort. Sometimes you have to work with what you have or can afford. But in my opinion it does not look good. To me it screams I'm trying to cover something up.

In all honesty I will be glad when this "Plasti-Dip" fad dies.

That is a point with which I'm unable to take issue.

Re: plasti dipped camaro

I like what you are trying to do, but I don't think it looks very clean. I am a fan of plasti-dip myself. I have dipped my rims and I put on racing stripes with plast-dip. I like it because each month (or when I get bored) I pull the old stripes off and spray new ones on. It's fun, inexpensive and doesn't ruin your finish.

I would suggest to you that you take off what you did. Clean the car very well - make sure it is bone dry, moisture is not a friend of Plasti-dip - and repaint it with some patience and attention to detail.

Good luck.
