Should I keep my pin stripe and if not, how do I get ride of it

I guess my subject says it all. I have a 89 black RS and I just flipped the tires around to all black...sprayed my Side parkers black and well and debating if the gray pinstripe should come off. So i am looking for opotions. If any knows a good way to take it off...and not have it well look crappy, LET ME KNOW. Thanks

I would personally. Taking them off can suck though. To get mine off I used a razorblade. Its a hassle and take time, but would look great on your ride.

Razor blades are severe bullship. Try an autobody supply store, and ask for "Pinstripe removal wheels" They're a rubbery wheel on a 1/4 inch shaft you put in an electric drill or other rotary tool and it rubs them off with ZERO damage to paint underneath. Fast and easy, just the little rubber bits make a mess.

All you have to do is take a hair dryer, heat them up and the stripes come right off.

Some autobody supply places sell a thing called a "pinstripe removal wheel" It's basically a rubbery wheel on a 1/4 inch shaft that you put in an drill, die grinder, etc. Doesn't mess up paint, works beautifully.

Buy some Quick 'n' Kleen and spray it on the pinstripe. As long as it is not painted on, it should disolve the adhesive enough that it will simply come off. Wipe up the residue with a rag and then cleen your car, should do it.

ALSO, GM has some decal remover stuff at the dealerships for removal of the decals. It should work too.

Pinstripe Remover

just like those guys put it.....a wheel you place on a rotary and lightly press against the beginning of a stripe.

15 bucks i think i saw it for. looks sorta like those chunks of art erasers in 8th grade..but a wheel

Personally, I would remove it. If I get the IROC I'm looking at, the first thing to go is the stripe along the bottom.

My first car had a PINK stripe down the side... that HAD to go before I would even get in it. When I pulled it off it took sections of clear coat with it. I ended up having to put a grey stripe in its place. If you do take it off be careful, and take your time!

<FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Tahoma"><font color="#000000"><font size=2>PopaPork: I just removed my pinstripes last weekend. Like some of the others, I used a "HOT" hairdryer (a cooler one didn't work that great...but watch your paint!) and also a bottle of Goof-Off to remove the sticky residue. I had no problems.
