I don't like this gap!

Can anyone tell me what causes this gap between the hood and front facia? And possibly how to fix it?

Re: I don't like this gap!

What do the edges look like?
Are they lined up properly?
That would tell us if it’s the hood that's high or just the bumper cover that is sagging.
Mine was the hood that was high and I ground away material on the latch bolt holes to allow the latch itself to slide down further and removed as much gap as I could

theres a plastic bar behind there that you can slightly adjust. its hard to get to IIRC? maybe somebody can descibe how to adjust it better? this hawks diagram might give you an idea?

personally, i play around with washers as spacers under the bumpercover til it meets up good.

Lining up the front bumper, hood and headlight doors on a Firebird can also be annoying. I dont know what happens to 'em, but they move over the years.

Re: I don't like this gap!

Well, I lowered the hood latch as low as it would go. That closed the gap pretty good and it still opens and closes nicely. Now the problem is that the facia is under the hood ( like a bad overbite). The hood edges are lined up nice to the facia and even gaps around the hood. I am afraid I wont be able to move the hood back any for fear of contacting the wipers.

Re: I don't like this gap!

If it's flush with the fenders(lines all line up) then the nose needs adjusting.

Re: I don't like this gap!

Remove the TPI snorkel.
Remove the air filter holder.
There will be a bracket that bolts to the top and bottom rad cradle that holds the hood latch. If you look just below the latch, there will be another bracket that goes from this one to the front clip. The two bolts where the two brackets meet are slotted and you can move the front clip up.

If that is not enough adjustment, then you can shim the front clip and the plastic reinforcement piece that it sits on. That will also close the gap.

I would first line up the hood to the fenders and then move adjust this.
