Re: fiberglass hood strut ques

FWIW, I'm using the original spec struts for my GlasTek hood.
No issues to report.

Re: fiberglass hood strut ques

Probably comes down to how thick the fiberglass is overall as well as how much fiberglass is in the area of the hood hinge. I have a Harwood hood that is thin and doesn't use much fiberglass, I wouldn't expect it to hold up to the use of a hinge prop. I had a mustang that had a Cervinis hood and that was a stout hood, no doubt it could have held up to hinge props. You can order a set of hood props in any configuration and strength if you believe that your hood will hold up to the pressure. Finding out the strength of the hood prop is just a bit of physics. I went over all the physics of it and where you can buy them from in my build thread when I had to order a set of semi-custom lift supports for my trunk lid after I removed the stock spoiler and installed the High rise Z-28 spoiler. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/memb...ml#post6114669

Re: fiberglass hood strut ques

Looks really similar to mine, I have the Turbo hood by harwood. I just can't see mine being strong enough to hold but if you say yours holds....
