I went through this with my 1985 Camaro and now that I have a 1987 I am back at it again.

The center TTOP TBAR is rusted out.

Has anyone used the Goodmark replacement bar? How does it fit?

I didn't even know there was a replacement available. Hopefully someone will chime in that's bought one. For $140 it's a great price if it's a good product!

 

Is that legit? I know hawks sells one but its $400 iirc

 

Hawks is made out of stainless steel. Would imagine stamped steel would be much cheaper.

I'm waiting on a quote for price and availability from a canadian distributor.

Well, I just bought one, so I can let you guys know what it's like. It said they only had 6 available, so I jumped on it

Canadian prices and shipping are not too far off the carid usd price. I just wish I knew how bad of shape mine was in before I order one. I have had the car for 6 months but the car is in winter storage. I know mine is rusty but it may be fixable like my last car.

It's stainless. I double checked with a magnet that fell right off

It's going to come in the biggest damn box you've ever seen, lol. It was left inside the front door at my building and I walked in and wondered what the hell had arrived. You could have fit a kitchen table in it (with the legs removed). I opened the box and it was full of the big bubble wrap. I was starting to wonder if there was even anything in the box at all....then I found the little box that the t top bar was in clear down at the bottom, lol. I have no idea why they shipped it like that, but you could have dropped the thing out of an airplane and it wouldn't have hurt it

 

mine should be here tomorrow. I'll put it on the shelf lol

 

Oh, BTW, they verified that it also fits Firebirds and Trans Am (as I expected). Their ad says 82-92 Camaro.

 

I set mine in place in my car just now. I had to tap the rear edge of the top of the bar in just a little, and had to bend the front edge of the top bar out just a touch. It fits in there perfectly, and all of the screw holes line up, too. It only fits one way, so if the holes don't line up just spin it around. GREAT product for the money!!

 

Do you have the GM TTOP special manual? I did the bar on my 85 about 7 years ago and it still wasn't perfect. The GM manual is very long, detailed, and specific about exactly how to re-seal the bar and install the weatherstripping.

I recommend everyone read it if they can find it.

Do you know where to find the T-TOP GM Manual for these cars? I haven't been able to locate it anywhere!

 

Ok. After getting the t-top bar installed, I have a MAJOR bitch with it. The side profile of it does not flow with the top curvature of the t-tops. It looks great until about 3/4 of the way back, then it gets a gap between it, and the top of the t-top before it curves back down to the rear end of the bar. I'm going to contact them and raise some hell. Other than that, everything with it is great.

 

Oh damn, another much needed aftermarket part that doesn't fit correctly.

Optical illusion ???, but it looks like the bar is correct and your t-top is warped.
Can that bar only be installed one way? In other words, did you install it backwards?
I know you are smarter than that, but $hit happens sometimes.

It can only be installed one way. None of the mounting holes line up if you flip it around. I'm pretty bummed. At least it's not a horrible job to replace it. Guess I Could always ONLY drive it with the t-tops out

 

With no difference in leakage.

 

UPDATE... They gave me a full refund + shipping on the t-top bar, and they don't want the old one back.

 

That's great. But what do I do with mine now? I love that it's stainless steel.

 

Set a t-top in the channel and see if the top rail matches the contour of your t-top. Maybe yours doesn't have the same problem that mine does

 

 

Has anyone else who has ordered one had a chance to check the ttop fit? I'm still on the fence about ordering one. Canadian supplier claims stock.

 

I finally got my car out of storage and had a look at the condition of my bar. It is trashed. I have a call in to the Canadian retailer of the ttop bar. Hopefully they have stock. I will find out tomorrow.

 

The TTop bar is no longer available according to 2 different suppliers. I luckily found a very good condition bar at the junkyard. I sandblasted it and will paint it soon.

 

I finally painted up my junkyard bar I sandblasted.

The paint looks textured in the photos but in real life its pretty smooth. The bar isn't perfect, but its pretty good.
