Get the refill rubbers. Slide out the old, then slide in the new.

What is the source for the refills? I did that many years ago when I owned a 1970 Chevelle.

Re: Classic Windshied Wiper Blades

Just about any auto parts store or Walmart? At least, they used to be available in stores. Amazon lists a full selection, too. But if you can't find refills only, then get the conventional blades, and slip the rubber out of them and into your stock ones. I assume you still have the stock ones, and that's why you're asking?

I began doing this when my car was new. The factory rubber had a tiny black metal "frame", that thin strip of metal that gives the rubber its rigidity across the top, but all you'd see were the metal edges. But all of the refills had an unfinished silver aluminum "frame" in them, and I didn't like that. Silly, I know, but I liked the black metal edges! Especially since everything else was black, including the car's paint. So I'd slip the rubber out of their aluminum frames, and then slip it into my factory black frames, then slide the rubber into the blade frame. My current rubbers don't even have a metal frame through them. The top is simply rigid plastic(or hard rubber), grooved to fit into the blade frame. The whole replaceable assembly is probably called a blade, not a blade frame, but to me, the rubber is the blade, not the metal frame it fits into, that's attached to the arm. But anyway, my car still has its OE metal, arms and blade frames.

I got AC Delco 84418 wipers at rockauto for $3 each. Are they substantially different from OEM?

Re: Classic Windshied Wiper Blades

I had to go out and take a look at mine. Yes, those you have are quite different. Most people probably wouldn't notice though, except for the most **** on TGO. Oh wait, that's most of the membership! And maybe a judge at a show, but whether or not he would even care about a part like that, I don't know.

But that's a good picture to better explain what I was talking about. See that thin silver metal strip? The factory OE metal strip was black. So I'd buy the refill rubber, slide that silver metal strip off of the new rubber, slide my OE black metal strip off of the old rubber and slide it onto the new rubber, then slide the new rubber into the blade. That thin silver metal strip would just glare at me!!! But sometime throughout the years, although not that long ago, I got over that. I still swap the rubber, just not the metal strip.

Have you installed these? They fit OK? I ask because Rock does not show that part # in the list it returns for my vehicle.

Here's the OE factory wiper blade on my 1987. I mention the year, 1987, because I can't say if it was exactly the same design throughout the generation, but it probably was.

I noticed that too when I went back to find them on rockauto. Interestingly, they were listed as a fit for my car back in March when I ordered them. No fitment issues, see below for pics. I think my AC Delco Silver uncoated rotors were also unlisted at rockauto, although I bought them at Summit (which did list them as a match) because free shipping.

Neat, those are different. Thanks for sharing!

I think mine has the pin type as well. There's a hole in the center where you just slide it in, I think it's designed to work with both pin and hook types:
