Water in cargo storage area

I tried to search the boards for anything on this and I really couldn't find anything so,..

It rained rather heavy the other night and I went out to see the damage. I have only had the car about a month and the first thing I did was replace the T-top weatherstriping. There was a, of course, a leak and my center console had a nice puddle on it. I am sure I know how to fix this problem but my real question is why is there water inside the storage area ( driver's side ) in the cargo area. I really don't see it comming from my T-top leak problem so what happen?

Same thing used to happen to me yrs ago--might be coming through your hatch--either from the weather stripping being ripped or bad--or the hatch might not be aligned properly. I never figured which was my problem--I traded the car in.

I just got back in from looking a little closer at the car. At the time that I installed the weather stripping, I didnt have any silicone filler to put between under the small openning under the strip that runs across the top of the car and separates the LH and RH T-tops. I figured that is more than likely the problem and when I checked those areas, they were wet. I looked at the weatherstriping for the rear hatch and it seems fine. If the hatch wasnt aligned properly, wouldnt I see the same problem on the other side of the car?

If the hatch wasn't aligned properly-you'd be able to tell--it would look a little lopsided--depending how bad it was out of whack!
But that was just my expierence.

The leak in the hatch is most likely coming form the weatherstripping that meets the rear deck lid and the hatch glass. That is one of the things I will replace when I buy all my weatherstripping.

Any way to realy test the weatherstripping on the hatch? I really don't have the time or money to rip out and replace the weatherstripping back there.

Get in your car and have someone douse your car down with lots of water around the hatch. Look vigoursly for water coming from the decklid area.

Something similar to this happened to me a while back. After a monsoon, I went out to get in my car, and I had a nice puddle of water in my passenger side floor board, and water in my trunk. And get this,......I didn't even have T-tops. I had had an amp installed a couple of days prior to this. I took my car to the dealership to fix the problem. Come to find out, the water was coming from a hole in my firewall from where the radio clinic didn't put in a rubber gromit where the wire was running through the firewall. At least this is what I was told,...and I have to believe that they knew what they were talking about since it fixed the problem. It never leaked again. My only question is......Is there anyway that water can go from the front to back. I'd have to say "yes" it would be the only explination. My hatch had never leaked before. And they didn't do anything at the dealership to fix a leaky hatch but yet it never leaked again.
