Hi, I have a white Z28 1987 with silver ground FX .. Since it´s been repainted by previous owners the decals and stripes are gone. I want to restore the car to its orginal look, but I can´t figure out what color my cars stripe kit came with from the factory.

Also does anyone know if the silver ground FX is standard? Or are they supposed to be white?

One more, did the Z28 have the iroc-z decal on the doors?

Help anyone?

Ok... but how do I know what color the stripes should be?

 

rpo codes for the stripes should tell you what color stripes
Z-28's with the silver gfx weren't Irocs, hence no iroc decals

 

Ok I see... So a true Z28 would just have the stripes and nothing else?
Does anyone have a pgoto on a stock Z28?

 

I checked my rpo´s and they does not tell what color the stripes would have, just this: D88 : Decal, Stripe, Sport

So should I just have the stripes or should I also get the Iroc decals, allthough it´s not an Iroc... Wouldn´t it look better with the decals or what do you guys think,?

 

The Iroc-Z sticker won't look right with
a 2 tone paint job.I think it will be a bit
much but,you have to remember it's
your car so do what you like.

Mr. Swede. I believe your interior is red, correct? It also looks like your rocker panel emblems are red too. Therefore your stripes should have been red. Actually a couple of shades of red followed by a black bottom stripe. Your stripe code by the way for a red striped Z28 is code 84A, and is unique to the 1987 model year.

 

David, that´s correct my interior is red and also the emblems..and I have the rpo code 84A.
But I havent seen stripes with more colors then two...
You mean that my stock stripes should be black and two tones red?

Does anyone have a pic of a car with that?

I know its your car, but please dont put IROC stickers on you Z28, its just like putting GTR emblems on V6 Mustangs or TYPE R stickers on civics.

Swede, your decals should say "TUNED PORT INJECTION" below the Z28 emblem on your rocker panels. Also on the rear bumper cover there was a plate that said the same in silver on the left side of the bumper cover. And you've got email.
