LS1/C5 brakes for 9 bolt?
Dose anyone make a adapter for the LS1/C5 brakes for the 9 bolt rear. I want to do the brakes on mine to the LS1/C5 style. But would also like to do the rear. All I have seen is the adapter for the 10 bolts. I allready have 4 wheel disc and want to upgrade. But I don't want to have to put a 10 bolt in it to redo the brakes. Thanks in advance! Adam :-)

The backing plate for the 10 bolt can be used on the 9 bolt, all you have to do is drill new holes for the 9 bolt. Be careful if you do to not have the holes overlap so they are "oval" or elongated. I have 10 bolt plates on my 9 bolt now

Sorry, they are on the car now. I suppose I could take some pictures when I change the rear in the future but that wont be for quite a while, too much else to do. There was a thread recently about this sort of thing. The person drilled too close to the original holes. Ill try and find it for you.

Post numbers 20 and 21 are what you should look for when doing it. If you swap the left and right you will have lots of metal to drill and not have to worry about them

Thanks man!! I'll just order a set of 10 bolt brakets and weld the holes then drill the new ones. I had know idea that the 10 bolt ones would work. Thanks again! Adam :-)

Ummm...the PBR backing plates you are talking about will NOT work with LS1 style rear brakes, or any type of C5 setup you want per your first post. The bracket and carrier bolt patterns are different. Now if you go with the 1LE/LT1 style PBRs you'll be fine. Make sure you get the right parts for what you are wanting to do.
AFAIK, the LS1 backing plates are cast and will not be a good choice for redrilling.

What about the early thirdgens that had 4 wheel disc with the 10 bolt's. They didn't start the pbr calipers till late 80's, right? So could you use the backing plates off of one of them. But do you make an adapter to do the LS1/C5 brakes for that baking plate. Thanks! Adam :-)

LS1 plates will bolt right on to a 10 bolt disc rear but not a 9 bolt due to the different bolt patterns. PBR calipers became standard in 1990. I don't have a plate for the LS1/C5 to a 9 bolt yet but it's on the list.

Well I might be going to a 10 bolt now anyways. The housing on mine is going to need to be replaced. The outer race for the wheel bearing is spining in the housing and grinding it away. So if I am going to swap housings. I'm just going to do a 10 bolt. Then I don't have to worry about finding high priced parts for this rear anymore. But thanks for the helps guys! Adam :-)
P.S. ebmiller88 you have a pm about some brake stuff.
