Doesn't look like too much of a "deal" to me.

http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductD...e=5003&ptset=A

eBay Motors: 98-02 Camaro Firebird Trans Am Front Brakes w/ Spindles (item 200035970206 end time Oct-17-06 17:56:44 PDT)

I couldn't say about the "hold out" part.... although it looks to me like if they're going to come from the same source, you'll probably get ripped off even worse, since they'll come with the "V" buzzword cover charge attached to them.

Checked car-part.com lately? Been to your friendly corner junkyard? Sounds like you haven't done much research at all.

is a guy from a local forum who parted out a ls1 car. all he said was ls1 break upgrade (so there might be more than just the calipers) and all prices are negotiable.

If it's the stuff directly off of a LS1 car, then it'll be exactly like the stuff in that eBay link I posted.

That won't get you an upgrade to one of these cars. But it's a VERY COMMON upgrade to a 93-97 F car, since it's all a DIRECT bolt-on to one of those. So if he's got a 98-02 car and he's calling it an "upgrade", that's what he's referring to.

Still, not a deal; judging by the eBay price.

There's a WHOLE LOT more to the "LS1 upgrade" to one of these cars, than just the part that comes off of the LS1 car. I'd recommend working at it from the opposite direction. Get the 3rd gen specific stuff first, the parts that don't exist in stock form (hubs, brackets). Then when you've got all of that and it's ready to put on, get the easy stuff... the LS1, or C4, or C5 part. Which all you need from that, is the calipers, carriers, and rotors.

this is what comes with it the upper control arms, rotors, brake lines, brakes, bolts, and carriers for 140 and it is within pick up range. i know i need to turn down the stock hubs and i need to make/buy a caliper brackets. is there any thing else i need to swap this to an 84.

for $140 its not a bad deal if the rotors are in good shape, and yeah all else you need are the hubs and brackets, but for a little more why not get c5 or c6 parts since your upgrading unless cash is the issue then i understand and get the ls1.

Considering the only parts in that list that you can use are the brakes, the control arms will be nothing more than paper weights, but he is including the rotors so that's a decent deal. I'll assume no shipping so if he includes all the bolts and stuff it's not that bad, depending on condition. You can't use the brake lines either. I do have all the parts you'll need to complete the swap, brackets and all.
