cross drilled rotors

I need help with rotor replacement. I am replacing my rotors and noticed the R1 concepts on ebay. They were very cheap priced compared to the others. Anyone have any experience with them? I noticed one consumer note on the web that they rusted in one day after purchase. This is common on a rotor anyway isnt it? Is there a popular brand recommended for these rotors? And experience with ceramic rotors? I dont know if I can replace with larger ones and stock calipers or other simple upgrades. I need to keep it inexpensive.

You can't go larger with stock calipers. Personally, for a daily driver, I'd simply replace with an OE version, new pads and lines.

Re: cross drilled rotors

I will be considering using the brakes from another salvage 4th gen bird in the future anyway.
So should I get the cheap r1concepts from the ebay? Is there any problem goin with some of the cheaper brand crossdrilled rotors? any suggested brands?

Re: cross drilled rotors

Check the feed back? Jegs//Summit,SSBC may carry them. Ya-price does play a part on what we buy. PLEASE think before you buy! If you feel confident with the info then get them & recommended pads. Powerslot makes slotted//drilled, & just slotted. Good luck & post your install!

Re: cross drilled rotors

cheap ebay parts are usually Chinese parts, which means soft crap steel. I would pass on them. No real benefit to drilled rotors at this point, besides, if you want to use the 4th gen stuff later, you have to cut up your drilled rotors to make the new floating hubs.

Re: cross drilled rotors

If you plan to upgrade at any time, save your old rotors to have them cut down to just hubs.

Re: cross drilled rotors

4 years on my R1 rotors and it took an Ohio winter to make the cooling fins rust

The zinc washed hub still looks new

Dont buy them for any performance or looks improvements. If you want cheap replacements for your daily drive thats driven as such then get them
