1LE Caliper mounting brackets no longer available!!!

I just recieved an email today from gmpartsdirect.com:

Hello
We received your order # 14899 at gmpartsdirect.com and have the following
information for you.
One of the parts on your order has been discontinued and is no longer
available from GM.
The part number is 10132829
Your new order total without this part is 251.26
We did check to see if we could locate the part from another dealer, but
didn't have any luck. The part may be available from aftermarket suppliers.

That leaves me f*cked. I was planning on doing the conversion and I placed my order 4 days ago. If anyone can help me find that bracket I would be forever in debt to you. Email me if you can help me out at all.

Chris

Dang! We all knew this would happen, but so soon? Check with Steve Spohn's board. He's thinking of making the brackets.

It's not the caliper bracket/plate( check the jayg 1LE upgrade page for the correct image) that is unavailable. It is the LEFT caliper carrier/cradle.
I spoke to Steve Spohn today regarding this.
And I don't believe that he will be making any of these.
I am attempting to locate an alternate source for us all. I am glad that I already have mine, and installed. But I am going to do the best I can for you guys!!

If you can locate an alternate source, I would be estatic. I actually found one today in Canada, but the guy said it was "spoken for".

I can't remember who but, some parts place (carparts.com, auto zone, napa) well maybe one of these guys has it but, you have to get it with the caliper it was an upgrade above the loaded one. I saw it after I got my parts. of course it always works that way!

also who has the best price for 1LE rotors??

I hate to say this, but Baer would have them since they use them in every PBR brake kit they sell. If I was pursuing this I would check all the brake parts supplier that deals in PBR replacement parts. Also call or e-mail all the 'vette wrecking yard. The cradle's off the front brakes of 88-96 C4's are the same as 1LE's. I don't know about the 84-87's, They may be the same as the 88-95's w/12" rotors (std. brakes). The 88-95's had an option of 13" rotors. 96's all came w/13's. The rotor diameter doesn't matter. It's the thickness that you have make sure of. 1LE's use a 1.1" thick rotor. Hope this helps. Good Luck. "Draino"

I am attempting to source the caliper carriers directly from PBR. Or one of their US distribtors. I have already spoken to them on the phone. I got mine! But I will keep trying for you guys. WSish me luck.

Someone has a line on them because in the current issue of Chevy HighPerformance Scroggin Dickey offers a 1LE upgrade kit for $895.

I wonder if thats who came in and sucked up the last few sets? You commented on how fast they were going away. If I were trying to sell a package deal at a outragous price, I would certainly want to make sure that I had plenty of supplies. Another thought is, if they appear to be the only source for the caliper carriers, in their package "deal", then people will buy them.
SOMEONE has to have the carriers somewhere. Why didn't I get started on my re-construction project sooner???

As I said on the "BIG 1LE" thread,"the Srcoggins-Dickey 1LE upgrade package deal. Consists of only 2 front rotors (drilled& slotted I suppose),and a set of pads. So if you want to pay more for a set of pads & rotors than I paid for my entire installation. Then that's a deal!"
Please read my comments on the other thread.

'94 to current Ford Mustang Cobra's used the same calipers& brake pads. The caliper carrier is entirely different.

So GM never made a new spindle, but they made adapter plates?

GM modified the stock spindle. Just like we do. Then made the bracket to fit.

The '94+ Cobras use a PBR front caliper with the "COBRA" lettering cast into it. There have been two itterations of it... the '94-'97 and the '98-present. Difference? The piston diameter. They'll work on the 1LE bracket but I don't think the lettering is approprite.
