Right Stuff Detailing brake conversion kit
Has anyone used or know anyone that has used this kit?

Seems like it comes with all the brackets that are needed, but I am not 100% sure since I haven't done my conversion yet

Re: Right Stuff Detailing brake conversion kit
If that kit is for a big bearing Ford then it's same one I used on my Moser 9" housing. I haven't driven it yet, but it seems like it's going to work.
I modified the brackets that hold the axle bearings in. My bearings were about 1/8" wider than the bore depth, so I machined a 1/8" deep counter bore in each bracket.
They supply 3 sets of 8 spacers that are used to set-up the caliper to the rotor. I didn't like the idea of 4 spacers on each side, so I machined 2 solid spacers instead.
The rotors didn't fit on my wheel studs because my wheel studs are 5/8". I took them to work and opened up each hole. At this piont the rotor will now fit over the wheel studs, but won't fit on the snout of the axle. I took it back to work and machined that hole to fit properly. It's a good thing I'm a machinist.
The problems I ran into are probably because my axles are pretty beefy. (35 spline)

That's also very similar to my rear disk conversion using 99 Jimmy rotors and aluminum PBR calipers.

Mine however has no provision for a park brake since I don't need them on a race car.

That was very similar. Nice job.
I did try the Ford Racing kit for big bearing housing ends. It has non-vented rotors and an internal parking brake. Everything fit just fine, but I had no room for a wrench to tighten the retaining bolts. I would have to have a hole drilled into the axle flange and use a socket, extention, and ratchet.

I just saw these kits. I'm surprised there isn't a lot more talk about them. The price sure is right.

Re: Right Stuff Detailing brake conversion kit
i bought a whole rearend from an '02 Z28 convertible with 70,000 miles on it that has 3.42 gears, factory locker, and dic brakes for $300, and the guy included the torque arm and lower control arms...
so i don't really know if the prices for these kits are cheap or not..

Re: Right Stuff Detailing brake conversion kit
They look like great kits, but you could get what you need out of a newer car.
I'm currently overhauling my third gen and the cost to rebuild and convert to disc isn't reasonable.

I too am interested in those kits. I only found one review on them (on an El Camino).
My car is a daily driver, not a race car, so I prefer cheaper versus all out race quality.
