My e-brake will not pull up at all. So I took the center console out to look at the assembly. Theres definetly something wrong but Idk alot about e-brakes. It was broke when I bought it 7yrs ago, but now I want it fixed. I cant for the life of me figure out how to get the cylinder thats attached to the end of the cable out of its hole, and theres a little metal tab before that holding the cable in line. What I do pry the to metal plates apart? I have searched on here for a while and cant find a answer? (Drum brakes)

Just completed TBI mods, Open air cleaner mod, Smog delete, Cruise control servo delete, charcoil canister delete, Cleaned up heater hoses control valve bypass, Battery relocation. Dismantled top of block cleaned and painted intake manifold, water pump, valve covers and block, and pulleys in the process of cleaning small amount of rust in engine bay and painting it. Also painting top half of vehicle in backyard in a couple of weeks. New heater core, plugs, wires, cap;rotor.

What happens when you pull up the lever? Does it move at all?

Disconnect the cables under the car from the metal bracket that splits the line in two to go to each of the rear brakes. That will take the pressure off the automatic brake adjusting spring and there will be slack in the cable so you can rotate that little cylindrical piece so the cable is out of the channel, and then you can slide the cylindrical piece to the side and out.

No not at all its totaly froze up doesnt budge at all, it comes up hair but thats just me getting a little stretch out of the cable, and thats pullin it hard.

I totally unbolted the assembly(in the car) so I was able to completely rotate it and get alot of slack its the gear plate and the guide wheel that holds the wire thats so close together thats enabling me to remove the end peice from its hole. I will get in there and try again.

So, did you get it fixed? If not, did you verify no rust between the sliding parts on the park brake lever?

Got it out, I had to bend the little tab back and then it popped out. It took me forever because im doin alot to the car and I just didnt get back on it. Now that its out I got under the car and checked the lines and they look bad. Most the plastic covering on the lines looked like they were scrapped off by the little hooks holding them. It just looks jacked up so I have started to try to remove everything, but im still not sure were the bind was unless it was just a combination of everything being old and dirty and messed up.

Now that im at the removal stage any tips. I have had to already cut through one line to releave the tension to get the bracket through the holder. Everything under there is not moving.
