A few 4th gen rear brake questions

Couple questions about the rear flex lines, bleeder screws, and brake tee.

How do the flex lines bolt up to the calipers? One side of the flex line has a notch; which I thought was the side that faces the caliper, as shown in the pics. Ive got them flipped for the time being, as the car wont be up and running for a while.

The bleeder screw is suppose to be above the banjo bolts when mounted on the car correct?

Any one have a picture of how the brake tee is bolted to the rearend housing? I think Ive got it upside down but the bolt will only fit through the tee one way.

Re: A few 4th gen rear brake questions

Is this a 1993 - 1998 rear (LT1), or a 1999 - 2002 rear (LS1)? Not sure it matters, but that was my first thought (as I have a LS1 rear in my 1992 car, and a LT1 rear in my 1997 car) - I could maybe get pics tomorrow.

lol I completely forgot I drive a 98z28. If no one knows I'll check out my car tomorrow. Thanks for the offer though, I appreciate it.

LS1 rears run from 98-02.

Re: A few 4th gen rear brake questions

Can I hijack this post? lol I was thinking about putting a 4th gen rear into my 3rd gen. The price is right and it comes with Disc breaks! So how is that going to change my backspacing for my wheels? I was going to use a 6.5 bs on the original rear, but I hear this 4th gen is 2" longer on both sides?

Well, the LS1 motor was 1998 - 2002. But I call the LS1 rear the one with the Zexel Torsen posi unit, which didn't start until 1999 from what I read. Never thought about the brakes and what size discs are in a 1998 rear.

And yes, the 4th gen axles are just under 4 inches (total) wider, so the wheels will stick out not quite 2 inches farther each side.

You can put the center in your existing rear if you have 28 spline axles.

Re: A few 4th gen rear brake questions

You're missing the parking brake/hose bracket. And because you have LCA relocation brackets, you'll have to cut/weld them to make them work.

They usually straddle the factory LCA mount, but because of your relocation bracket the brake bracket has to be widened so it'll fit around the LCA relocation bracket.

Here's what it looks like from the back:

from the front:

After I modded mine:

Are you using oem hoses? Mine fit 90* from the way you have them pictured, and the little lip is facing away from the caliper. Hope this helps.
