NEED HELP!!! 1LE brakes and 15" rim Problems!!
NEED HELP!!! 1LE brakes and 15" rim Problems!!
I own a 92 z28 that was optioned with 1LE package, I just installed a drag bar from bmr panhard bar from bmr lca's from bmr, 1 1/2" spring from bmr,
i went to fit my NEW Greg Weld 15x8 4.5"bs wheels with 275/60-15's, when i tried bolting the wheels up, once they wldnt center nicely i tightened the wheel to see if it would rub when lowered, but they wouldn't turn at all , it was rubbing on my caliper.
i than bravely grinded down the cooling fins on my caliper
STILLL it doesn't fit but they now Center on the hub which they were not doing before grinding, but still do not clearance evidently the wheel will turn, with force , but not much.
The caliper is smooth on the half of the caliper inside the wheel lip. Hoping someone can help! have a 92 rs anniversary car for parts which has drum rears, but would like to keep my 1LE parts. hope someone can tell me something im not thinking of. Please help !

I have those brakes on my 86, and had to grind them to run 15x8 prostars. I also ran that thin factory spacer and they cleared.
Re: NEED HELP!!! 1LE brakes and 15" rim Problems!!
you know idk i wouldn't think so because the caliper sits so far inside the drop center of the wheel, its agood 2" inside the drop, but its possible.

Re: NEED HELP!!! 1LE brakes and 15" rim Problems!!
I know for fact that the 4th gens need caliper grinding for 15" wheels, but the rear greg welds didn't fit them even with grinding. They were supposed to release a rear wheel that would clear the caliper, but I don't personally know if they did.

Re: NEED HELP!!! 1LE brakes and 15" rim Problems!!
A few companies make there wheels now able to clear the newer big brakes. If you search drag wheels on LS1tech.com, I believe someone listed what popular wheels will fit with how much work/ no work. Good starting point to follow as to what the big brake third gens need. Good luck!
