calipers
calipers
I have a 1986 camaro sport. v-8. One of my calipers is froze due to car sitting up for the last 17 years. So I would like to know what is the most reliable calipers to replace with and without spending a ton of money. I will be driving this car maybe 50 miles a month so its not a race car or anything like that. just want dependable replacement without going broke, thanks for any help.

Re: calipers
Not sure what "a ton" of money is.
They're like $12 a side; cheeeeeeeeper than the pads.
Just go get new ones and throw your trash ones in the trash.
Not a lot of mental effort required here.
The Internet is your friend. Go out and ACTUALLY LOOK AT the price. I think you'll see, you just wasted more money in bandwidth charges asking about it, than the cost of the parts.

Welcome to TGO, casino.
While you're replacing calipers, I'd do the hoses as well. They are after all nearly 30 years old.

Re: calipers
take the calipers off..
take them to a local parts store..
give them $15 or whatever and your old calipers in exchange for new reman calipers.
also give them $20 for a set of pads, and another $20 for new hoses while you are there.

Re: calipers
If your going to start replacing calipers and hoses then take a good look at the rotors. You can get them cheep ( around $35.00 ea.)but I suggest the Napa Ultra Premium. The rotors come with races and if the bearing are ok I've been told you can clean them, repack them with grease and use them again. New pads should have new rotors and vise versa. Replacing a Caliper can turn into a full brake job with the age on the stock parts.
You would be surprised at how much information you can get from YouTube on the subject. They walk you through the proses step buy step.
Any way here's my first time replacing the front brakes =
