I've had these PBR calipers, brackets, and all hardware lying around for about 10 years, and am ready to mount them on newly rebuilt 9 bolt rear end.
I can't remember whether the dished part of bracket goes inboard or outboard, and it looks like I can mount both forward, or to the rear, because I have a left and right bracket, as well as caliper.
Can anyone give me answer which way bracket goes on rear end?
I could mount it up couple times until I worked it out, but would like to be right first time out.
I'm leaning toward mounting calipers forward to give more clearance around shocks.
I think I can work out e cables either way.
Thanks for any help.
Ron

Your picture is showing the LEFT bracket, and the caliper mount ears go toward the rear of the car (caliper trailing) Now, normally I wouldn't reply to a message so many members here could easily answer but I noticed you said "newly rebuilt 9 bolt" That bracket you have there "looks" like the 10 bolt, it wont work on a 9 bolt if so, so I`m trying to save you the trouble of pressing on a bearing to find out the brackets pattern is off. Go ahead and put it to the 9 bolt flange and see if it lines up, I don`t believe it will but I could be wrong, the 9 bolt brackets have a dust shield normally with a different profile. I happen to have a few sets of those 9 bolt brackets if you need, just let me know.
What he said: the 9-bolt and 10-bolt brackets are different. They are EXACTLY the same except different. Gotta have the right ones. I have some of each too, and I can assure you, they are not the same.
When you get the right ones you'll see it's almost impossible to put them on any way BUT the right way. They'll tell you when you have it right all by themselves.
Thanks for someone finally answering back.
Since no one ever left any response, I finally just started putting it together and used the SWAG method.
The complete kit was purchased from someone on TGO that's supposed to know that doesn't answer emails or phone any more.
The brackets do bolt up to my 9 bolt, and will go to the front or back by swapping sides with them.
I did learn that the curve bend on outside goes inboard, and then my rotors seem to line up with the brake brackets.
I first put the curve outboard, but calipers didn't want to line up, so took it apart and reversed and all seemed okay that way.
I tool rotors out to have turned a little to get rust off them from sitting in my shop all these years, so I will finish bolting everything when I get them back.
I think i'm okay, but if not, i'll get back and try to get other brackets from you guys.
The rear had typical GM brackets with dust covers attached when I got the rear end 8-10 years ago, but I didn't have any rotors and calipers, cables, and hardware. That's when I bought this kit and I told the guy it was a 9 bolt.
These rotors are bigger than the caliper brackets that I had, and calipers do not bolt up either.
I was supposed to have bought the 1LE setup.
I'm putting the calipers to front as I'm putting this rear end in 59 Chevy pickup now, as the Camaro is long gone and never got the rear changed.
With the calipers to the front, my shocks will work out better.
Thanks for the help you two have been.

Reason: Add line.
Well, I have everything mounted on my rear, except calipers. Will pick up pads tomorrow, and mount them and then start building brake lines.
I have attached a couple pictures of mounting that might help someone else.
Everything worked out find after I figured out to mount my brackets with the curve inboard.
I have the same clearance on both sides of rotor to my caliper bracket.
I have learned that these are called "performance option" from parts store I trade at.
They must be different from 1le. I really don't know.
Maybe someone can explain difference.
Not sure which pads go in, but they told me 413 was a good number.
1989 is the only yr for the 9 bolt and PBR disc.
The rear PBR aluminum disc became the standard rear disc in 1989 through 97.
In 89 there is a early 2 piece caliper mounting bracket and the mid year change to the 1 piece mounting bracket (which you have).
In 90 the 1 piece bracket received some minor changes to be used on the 10bolt.

Good info, I have never seen that type bracket used on the 9 bolt, its got be ultra rare like the drum brake 9 bolt

The performance package is the 1LE. Perhaps you can use info/pics from my build:
Can anyone give me a good part number for pads for the rear?
The 413 pads my parts guy swears is correct don't seem to want to fit right.
Once I get them in caliper, the caliper doesn't want to go back in mounting bracket.
Any help would be great.
Thanks,
Ron
I figured out what problem was and going to solve tomorrow. Too cold at shop to hang around all day.
North Georgia in thirties and wind blowing like crazy.
The pads needed a little massaging on the ends.
When I put the caliper and pads down on carriage, it would not go all the way, but what I figured out after posting was that the pads are too tight in the carriage.
I can force them in the carriage and the caliper will swing over them, so I will take a little off the ends tomorrow and the 413 pads will work.
I really appreciate all the knowledge shared here on this forum.
I have been hanging out here for about 12-13 years, and have been member almost 10 years.
No better place for info and advice anywhere.
Thanks,
Ron
