No worries. Is the parking brake still functional? If it is, the cable itself may be fine.

That I can't answer off the top of my head. The only cables I've replaced on these was when I did my 4th gen rear swap.

Re: Rear e-brake hose replacement 92 Camaro RS v6
I doubt there's anything wrong. The e-brake cable is a thin, stranded, metal cable, inside of a thicker flexible metal tube, surrounded by the black insulation. It looks like the insulation has been burned off, and the outside of the flexible metal tube has been slightly abraded from rubbing against the exhaust, but it doesn't look like the tube is wearing through to the cable itself, so it's probably not affecting the cable's function. You might just try to manipulate the cable a little bit to get it off of the exhaust, maybe by pulling it toward the wheel, or clipping/tying it so it's off of the exhaust.

So that's what the U-shaped hold down is for on the passenger side frame rail! LOL! The e-brake cable with drum brakes!
I've been looking at that clip on my car for 15 years wondering what the heck it was for. Now I can finally remove it with peace of mind.

In the middle of your second picture you can see a clip on the body of the car that the cable is in.
Try pushing the cable towards the brake drum and use a zip-tie to secure if needed.

There should be a "S" clip on the bracket in the trans tunnel where the e-brake cable is mounted. That is what holds the cable away from the exhaust. There's a little hole on the top rear of bracket ear where the S clip goes.
