CD Player Plug Interchangability - mine got stolen - PICS
Alright my CD player just got stolen(
). It was a Pioneer DEH-P3300. Since I have liability insurance I am gonna have to buy a new CD player, or not have tunes( :nono: ). My question is that I would like to install the new CD player by myself and would like to know will these connectors plug into other brands? I dont know what brand I am going to buy yet, but it may be Clarion or Panasonic maybe even another Pioneer one. If I buy the Clarion will my current plugs plug right into it? If not then can I buy adapters? Where?

The new Pioneers use a new harness with a split in the middle. This harness will only work with SOME new Pioneers. This model year Pioneers is using two different harnesses, one like you have and a smaller one that they use on the top of the line units. I always recommend Pioneer, dollar for dollar you can’t beat the design and build quality (not true for the DEH-P6400/640, they have problems). If you see a Pioneer model you like let me now the model number and I can tell you if the harness will work. I assume you ask this question because your not all that confident about doing the wiring your self?

The DEH-P4400 is a nice unit. If you go with the Clarion you will need to wire in the new harness. If the pioneer harness is spliced right to the cars wire harness, just match the colors of the pioneer harness to the ones on the Clarion harness, they will be the same colors. Just cut the red wire of the pioneer harness off and put the red wire of the Clarion to where the one from the Pioneer harness was, just do one at a time and you shouldn’t have a problem. If the car still has the factory harness get the harness that pugs into that (can get most anywhere you can get a car stereo) and splice the Clarion harness to that, then just plug it in. I never recommend cutting out the cars harness, just makes for a PITA down the road.
