thats what's keeping me away, the antennas are too F*&KING HUGE, i don't see why they can't make some that stay inside the car or are like the transparent window antennas, i realize they're recieving signals from much farther away, but i don't see a need for a ***** like object being superglued to my roof

9 times out of 10 you can getaway with putting the antenna out of sight IN the car, just put it near the front or back windows. Only way to tell if it will work in your area is to try it.
Hmmm... Sorry to hijack the thread, but is anyone aware of any pc/software or hardware designs for recieving XM? I've been thinking about it as well, but I've just finished my car pc install and would much rather have it coming through my computer (song/station/track info displayed on my flush mounted 9.5" dash monitor) than my head unit.

Genesis, you must be thinking of the Turk glass mount anntenna. I have one of those on my truck. Ugly yes, works very well and it's versitile. When your parked, it can be adjusted witout moving the vehicle. But, it's a truck.
XM anntannas (normal ones) are a little smaller than a pack of ciggarettes. I mounted mine dead center back of the roof on my T/A. Ugly bump??????? Obviously someone who has'nt yet had XM. You'll forget all about that ugly bump. Jaison, you'd probably have to mount somewhere on the rear deck.
XM......it's the best car mod i've ever installed. I have a non-movable Pioneer in my truck (direct bus), and a Sky-Fi for the T/A, house, other cars. I took out my CD changer, i never listened to it anymore. I only listened to local radio stations once in six months.......a traffic report.
The Sky-Fi is the way to go. You can take it anywhere you can get the signal. They just came out with a "boombox" for it recently.
Before getting too much bad info, check out their site.
