something other than 4x6's and sound-deading a box
I've got 2 questons...
1. Would I be better off putting a round speaker speakers in the 4x6 area or just new 4x6's? I just want the one that sounds better and I can run the most power to.
2. I have seen the spray-sound deadening stuff that you put on your vehicles to stop rattles...my question is would it help any if I put that stuff in side my box to stop the resonance that I hear is not good? Is there any advantage to this at all.
Thanx for the help!
p.s...to those who always tell me to change my avatar...how do you like it now?

the dynomat spray stuff you prolly wouldnt notice a difference, but if you would into competing then you could fiberglass the inside and raise your db a bit
what is your box made out of now?

I have the alpine plate 4 X 6s up front. I like em but it really depends on what you're after. I don't really get any low end out of them, but I'm not looking to either. Compared to my brother's car, which has the oval 4x6s in the dash, I think mine sounds better. Of course my speakers cost 3 times what his did, so they better.
As far as the sound deadener, I just used some that came in a red can from walmart. It's basicly just asphalt in a can, so it doesn't smell too good. I sprayed my brother's box with it, then filled it with polyfil. Now his bass is smooth as silk. Normally I wouldn't think that the two had helped, except that his system is all sony, and I was blown away by how good it sounded. I think it was $2-3 for a can of the stuff, so it's not like you'd be out a lot if you tried it and didn't like it. I've never had two identical enclosures side by side to do a comparison, but I'm sure it can't hurt anything to try it.

Kick panels are the best choice, but a bit more expensive.
For resonance:
You'd probably be better off re-creating the box out of 3/4" MDF instead of trying to fix the particle board one. MDF is firmer than particle board, which will cut down on resonance in itself.

be careful with spraying anything inside of a box. some of the contents could be corrosive to your speakers.

I'm running MB Quart 4" and tweeter in the 4"X 6" spot. They sound great, no low end but awsome mid and high.
