Box carpeting 101
Yall help me with some tips on how to carpet my box and make it look halfway decent. I tried cutting the carpet out for each section of the box but that only left some exposed corners and that looked ghetto. I got plenty of carpet, I can do the flat surfaces easy but when I get to a corner I start sweating.
Thanks.
Thanks.

The easiest way is to "unfold the box"
I've attached a pic to help for a rectangle box with 5 sides to cover (not the bottom). The dotted lines are the folds.
BTW, this is the quick way, and your measurements have to be right on.

This is the long way, but it keeps all your seams off the corners.
Leave that 45* flap to fold over the side. After you fold down #1, then #2, wrap #3 around so it sits on #1. Hold it still and cut #1 along the line that #3 makes from sitting on it.
A staple gun makes this easy.
Once you get everything cut-to-fit, pop the staples out, lift it up and spray 3M adhesive under there.

I don't like making my carpet edges on the edges of the box. There's way too much potential for them to separate. What I do is carpet all 4 sides (assuming this is a rectangular or wedge-shaped box), and on the bottom join the carpet. Overlap it, make 1 cut with a straight edge and a razor, then fit them together. Once you do that, you can deal with the edges. I'm not really sure how to describe how I do the sides, but I guess you could say I cut the carpet in an "X" pattern coming from the 4 corners. For example, fold the top and left flaps down, and use the straight edge to cut 1 line to the center of the panel. Remove the excess and put those 2 together. Repeat with all sides until your seam winds up being an "X" from all 4 corners. After a little practice, you can get them looking pretty good, and with the right style of carpet, it can be real hard to even find the seams.

I think I understand what you are saying, so all the seams will be going down the middle of each side, or will the top and bottom have the x after the wrapping and glueing.
I can almost follow you on that.

Use a lot of extra carpet and stretch it over the box. You can easily cover 4 sides without a single seam, 5 is also doable but is a little more difficult. You just need to spray both the carpet and the box with glue (3M Contact 80 works good) before you start and staple the carpet onto the 1 or 2 sides that you didn't cover. After thats all done just use a razor blade to cut out the speakers holes and trim off the excess (which will be a lot).

That's basically what mine looks like except the bottom.
Why cover the bottom when, in our cars, nobody's going to see it?
If you read I said "cut #1 along the line that #3 makes from sitting on it." That's what keeps the seams from sitting on the edges.
I guess the major point is, there's no reason it can't be done with one piece and the seams shouldn't end up on the edges.

When I made mine, I didnt put any "flaps" on it at all. First I spray painted all the edges black, just in case some showed through you would notice them, Then I glued the carpet on, by rolling the box on the carpet one side at a time. As each side got glued on I would trip off the excess carpted hanging off the sides. So you would see the corners of the box. Then When I folded the sides in I trimmed the edged too. I never had and carpet overlap another carpet, and you cant see any wood on my box.
