alpine, imoh, puts out great stuff for the price. the type rs are the best bang for the buck i think. mine hit awesome in my new taurus. the only thing is i keep on burning the ground wire on the sub. i cant figure it out other than bad settings from when i had the amps installed. but dont take that as a bad thing. i got them new froma guy that worked at alpine so i am thinking they were rejects that he found to be okay, other than that.
well I dont think you can go wrong if you stick to just one brand. Alpine is definitely a respected name. I have a CDA7894 HU and I am in love with it. Ive never heard their speakers or amps, but people say good things about them! I'd say your best bet is to find an authorized Alpine dealer and have a listen. Dont hesitate to check out any other brands either while you're there, and seek the advice of the people in the shop. If you sense bs then be ware cause half the time audio guys are dicks and they want to push their main brand on you. Just dont rush into anything. On the other hand, dont be afraid to mix and match your system. My HU is Alpine, I have a Phoenix Gold amp, will probably add a Memphis to that, and sub is Boston Acoustics, will also be getting a set of Boston components. Theres a lot of brands that shine in particular areas, and I believe that Alpine is best known for their HUs.

Alpine is great for SQ. And lately the subs and amps have come up as far as SPL. Before, you could hardly get alot of bass out of them. But it would sound clear with the right amount of bass for SQ. Now with the newer amps and subs, the bass seems like it hits harder than the equipment it superceded. But you get things like that from most companies.
I have always bought Alpine at least for my head unit and speakers, and maybe amps. And for subs and amps I bought Kicker.

If you want to go one step up, don't get any 6x9s or 4x6s. get a set of components (6" circular with seperate 1" tweeters, crossover should be included) and mount them in custom kickpanels from REZN8R. The sound quality is SO much better.

There's nothing wrong with staying all with one brand, but generally since each company has its individual strengths and weaknesses, you can do better by mixing and matching.
But... if you like all the stuff from alpine, there's really no reason not to use it all.

This is the way that I see it.
Alpine decks: Awesome
Alpine speakers: Awesome
Alpine Subs: Awesome
Alpine Amps: Really good, but pricey
I would go alpine all the way except for the amps. There are much better amps out there for a much better price.

Let me be the first to recommend the JBL 600.1 or 1200.1 from ikesound.com. 600.1 will push 300rms@4 ohms and 600rms@2 ohms. The 1200.1 will push 600rms@4 ohms and 1200rms@2 ohms. I believe that both are 1 ohm stable. Im sure Im not the only one who will recommend these to amps. They are pretty cheap too. $195 for the 600.1 and $275 for the 1200.1 For the amps on the speakers, your guess is as good as mine...if you wanna stay with the same amp brand, go w/ the JBL P80.4...pushes 40rms@4 ohms and 80rms@2 ohms...and JBL amps are underrated quite a bit from what I hear so you'd get more than 50rms outta the 4 ohm mode im sure.
