first off, make sure you upgrade all the wiring under the hood (everything that touches the battery, alt, ground, etc) with at least 4ga. if you still have probs, upgrade the alt like you were thinking. with class d's, i dont imagine you should have too many problems.

i wouldn't waste money on 2 seperate JBL amps...go with the 1200.1 and wire them parallel, 2ohms, 1200 watts.... saves you some coin, too.

Even with the 600.1 if the are svc 4 ohm subs you would only need one amp as the jbl is 2 ohm stable, Actully one I think

I have heard that as well, although it's not a published spec. The other thing to consider is that the JBL amps are underrated, so the 600.1 puts out somewhere in the 700s and the 1200.1 at like 1400. I ended up ordering the DVC version of my subs so that I could run it at a total of 4 ohms cause I was already gonna have to keep my 600.1 turned way down at 2 ohms to begin with, not to mention any underrating to the figures from JBL.

i doubt jbl underrates those amps for the price they charge, unless they get into alot of harmonic distortion at high volumes.

just my .02c

actually jbl does underrate this line of amps . the 1200.1 is known for benching at 1400w instead of the listed 1200w. these are the best low budget sub amps and can compete with some of the more costly ones as well. i highly recommend this series to anyone who wants great amps for a low price

I definetly think that JL's are great! I use to have 2 10' JL and a D1000 american base amp and the subs sounds unreal... besides Audiobond i think JL is deftinly second on my list atleast!
