Cerwin Vegas are durable speakers that can usually handle alot of punishment. However, they are not the best sounding compared to other brands.
For a car, I would probably lean toward the MTX's...but you have to listen for yourself.

i own many pairs of 12" mtx thunder 6000's they sound great for the price. i have owned them for many years now and no troubles whatsoever. i recommend them.

I got (2) 12" DVC MTX 6000 in a sealed box at the reccomended 1.25 ft^3 per chamber with 210 watts continuously pumping into each........ you will not be dissapointed. As for Cerwin Vega... i don't have any experience but a guy at work claims to and says they hit high at the SPL. For sound quality i'd go with MTX but for higher SPL i'd... well, still go with MTX ( :
